...a degree in criminology or something last year? How is that going?

I completed the first year and I'm taking a break now until after the general election. The good thing is it's Open University so I can take my time.

So what sort of things did you learn there?

Ummm - not a lot to be honest. First year was a bit simplistic (to cope with the different backgrounds of the students) and it was basically an introduction to sociology. Everything is society's fault apparently.

It was frustrating in that time constraints meant that essentially it became a matter of just regurgitating text books. Having a full time job, a disabled wife, voluntary work and becoming increasingly involved in politics meant I couldn't devote the time I wanted to it so I've taken time out.
