Hello there,
Curiosity made me click the link on the front page, and I'm glad I did.
Nice to make your acquaintance. I read the entry about curry and cars, and it made me think of my son who recently "expressed himself" a bit loudly standing (a little too) nearby. It sounded like it wasn't all gas, so I said "Geez, do you have to change your shorts?". "Naw," he sez, "I'm not wearing any."

Hi Tiny, pleased to meet ya!
Just had a peek at your PS and realised we have a few things in common:
Working with animals - check
Professional driver - check
Business owner - check
Bad amateur guitarist - check
Casillas the best keeper? Nah - Andy Goram, "the Goalie", "the Flying Pig" was the best keeper around.
When I was a kid, my parents took me on a caravan touring holiday in France. At one camp-site, we got friendly with the Dutch couple & their kids on the pitch next to us. One day, I was left to babysit their 2 year old son. I left him in our caravan whilst I sunbathed and dozed. I awoke to the screams from my mum in the caravan. They had returned to find that little Toby had cr@pped everywhere. On the floor, on the beds, on the stove, on the curtains (???) .. it was everywhere and he was covered too. In his hair, on his face, on his fingers which he was trying to lick clean...
I think that was an extreme example of "follow-through"

Ok, now the word "ever" was a typo. If you read the sentence to the end, the next phrase is "in a long time". I actually didn't mean to leave the word "ever" there, and I've removed it now that you pointed it out. However, I will point out that The Flyin' Pig is dead, no? And Casillas is not dead, which by a technicality makes him a better keeper at this time.
I won't try to top your story, that sort of chain could go on a long time, and can go nowhere but down. I did laugh though. I guess Golf isn't the only event where follow through is important!

Ah, but all the fun in soccer is in making impossible comparisons. Don't qualify your statements - go for it
Casillas is an excellent keeper I agree, but we always have soft spots for the keepers of the team we support. I support Glasgow Rangers FC and Andy Goram A.K.A "The Flying Pig" is very much alive and well, but maybe not sober. He was keeper during a successful period in the 90's when I saw him single-handedly break the hearts of opponents time after time. For me, there will never be a better keeper than the overweight, unfit, frequently drunk Andy Goram.

I gotta say I admire how you can complement someone while simultaneously poking at them.
Although I'm on the "wrong side of the puddle", my son is a fan of (of all teams) Celtic FC. Still, disappointment builds character and there is always hope (I'm referring to his backing a team that has had a tough year, as he never disappoints me!)
Since my son is a keeper locally (at least until the scouts find him and take him away) we keep a sharp eye on the boys in the net. I've asked him to look up Andy Goram. I'm sure he'll be interested.

S'funny, my nephew played keeper for his school in Florida, as well as baseball. Is being goalkeeper considered glamorous in the States? Over here it tends to be the kids that are useless that end up being goalkeeper.

Keeper is not considered glamorous, but it is hard to find someone that wants to do it because you get no glory for scoring, and harassment if you let one in. I would say it's a respected position, though.
As it is, football (soccer over here) is just reaching it's own here in the States.
Key: Complain about this post
