It has everything to do with Richard Bach. Thanks for dropping by, I'm still trying to cope with the events of the last week, though I'm starting to do better. Though, I think about his family, his funeral, there being no more new material or a possibly indefinately delayed movie, or the fact that I never wrote him and it seems to go bad again. Anyway, I'm working on it.

Thanks, I do feel better. It's still hard to believe though.

Illusions is a good book and I need to get around to reading it again, but I've got such a list now that it becomes less likely. I still have to get to Ender's Game which I got over Christmas.

I hope you have some free minutes for just looking into the book - sometimes it works like the handbook described in it smiley - winkeye.

There's so many books I'd like to read but 24-hour day-system doesn't help here smiley - sadface. And sometimes some real good books are not even translated into my language. I'm still quite clumsy with English.
Talking about Bach, the only translation we have is Livingstone, the Seagull.

Very true. That's much like what I use the Guide for. Pick it up, turn to the section I want, and read until I find the quote I'm looking for.

I wish I could just read all day, but my eyes would eventually get tired. Your English seems fine, better than a lot of native speakers that I've seen.

Thank you. Still it's not so easy to read in a foreidn language - it takes more time. Though quite often lots of things get lost in translating. The 1st part of the Guide was so horrible in my language that I just had to read it again in English immidiately.
I like h2g2 for being so tolerate to the foreigners. I'm sooo disappointed for the new moderation rules that make all postings including other languages than English disappear.
Still I love the community with all it's bars and pubs, games, and all the great entries. It's so good to take some smiley - stiffdrink or smiley - ale before leaving my office (which is where I use the PC) and go home relaxed already. I can't imagine doing myself this IRL.

I understand the way things get lost in translation. So much depends on word choice and order, but in general, I find it easier to read a language than to speak or write it.

Well, what the Guide is really about is providing a guide for everybody. I, myself, know three languages (English included); four if you count the small amount of Spanish I know. The point is this, until we have a babel fish program (that works, not the Altavista one which is INTENSELY rough at best), the Guide is going to be forced to stay in a language that the majority understand.

I'm still pretty new here, so I'm getting the hang of things slowly.
