Eusebio - squad number 11

Hi and welcome to h2g2.
I am an h2g2 ACE - Assistant Community Editor; a group of researchers who have volunteered to meet and greet new researchers.
If you have any questions of the who, what, when, where, why variety (or any others for that matter) just give me a shout ... I might not know the answer to every query (and I will look really silly if I can't answer any smiley - erm), but I will try my best!

If you missed it, the welcome page is at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/welcome

Some of the places which I regularly visit on h2g2 can be found at My Space - just click on my name above to find them ...
In the meantime smiley - stout *cheers* and I hope to bump into you someplace else soon!

Oh yes indeedyo. From the very start. And the original Kochanski was much better than the new one. Favourite episode - Queeg. How about you?

Ah the great Kochanski debate. I think they both have their strengths. As far as eps go Queeg's great! I love Rimmer imitating everyone else! Picking a fave ep? Hmm... That's hard! There's good stuff from every series... I'm particularly fond of the banter in Balance of Power, though! Have you been keeping up with the movie news?

Got to say I'm not too optimistic about the movie. Call me a traditionalist, but I just don't think it will be the same.

Very true... and yet, I am anxious to see some new Dwarf stuff come out. I don't suppose it could be too bad with Naylor and Ed Bye still in charge. I imagine that it's going to have the same feel as the last couple of series...only true fans would know the difference. I'm more concerned about how much they would pander to introducing the show's premise to newbies.

Between the start of Red Dwarf and the last series / film coming out, there has been enough in the world of SF that anyone who hasn't seen it before but is interesteed enough to go and see the film will be prepareed to accept the premise. There shouldn't be too much explanation necessary. When "The End" went out, there was more need to explain everything that Star Trek has made common knowledge by this point. (Oh yes, I'm a Trekkie too - well, a trainee one, married to a graduate in the art.) I am being instructed!

No, I was pleased to hear that you are a Star Trek fan.
I have no time for holograms.
They are only light, after all.

Voyager rocks!

Hi Gelfling

Yeah, holograms are a good example, but the whole thing about 'this story is set on a spacecraft' is more easily accepted now. Or maybe that's just the sort of people I talk to.

I like TNG but I prefer Voyager and DS9. They go in more for the 'cute and amusing' characters don't you think?

I would never have heard the last of it!
I'm so glad you managed to find the site alright.
I wasn't allowed to say "www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2" as it was not a bbc radio station!

I dunno, DS9 and Voyager never really caught my interest. *shrug* THe original series is always good for a giggle though... smiley - biggrin

"Story set in spacecraft being accepted?" Hmm. It really depends on who you're taling to I suppose. My friends all think I'm mad when I go on about that kind of stuff! smiley - winkeye

I know what you mean, but you wouldn't go and see the movie / wear the t-shirt / read the book etc if you weren't interested and therefore prepared to accept whatever they tell you. I am, but I know plenty of people who aren't. I just either convert them or ignore them! They can't help being uneducated!

Yes I did and I can't remember the name of the guy they said was possibly going to be the new captain but wasn't he in ... erm ... something about jumping into other people's bodies I think? Anyway I rather liked him in that (if I have the right person, I'm not much good with names.)
