h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well thank goodness I've cheered up a bit. Gosh! How did he do it? (I hear you scream) Well, basically, I managed to make everyone else around me miserable, I find that often helps to make life smell an awful lot better. It's similar to when your Mothers (or fathers... or guardians) used to tell you to eat your veg as there are people starving in Bangaladesh (don't know why Bangaladesh, there are people starving all over the World, come to think of it, I'm a bit peckish now). Eating sprouts seemed, at the time, to be a better alternative to starving in a far off country and they were duly chewed (well that and the threat of going to bed, missing Joe 90 on telly and having them served up, cold, at the next family meal. The same goes for being miserable, if there's someone worse off than you, it gives you that guilty feeling and socks are finally restored to the up position. A tip, however, is that if you can't find anyone more miserable than yourself at any given time, change it! MAKE them more depressed and suddenly, Bob's your uncle (or in mei case me Dad) and the World becomes a rosier place!

That and the fact that the weather has been rubbish, an absolute boon for us hay fever sufferers (see A569180 Postcard from an Alien on Hayfever and PMS).

Ah Life, can't live without it!
