Why do all the links on your page point to h2g2.com instead of bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/ ???
I thought you joined post-Rupert?

Coz that was the way a friendly guru helped me fix my page last time I messed it up!

Ah. I don't want to tread on peoples toes or anything, but I'd have to disagree with that! The h2g2.com addresses will all point to the *old* server, and be redirected to the bbc address. However, presumably the old address will be discontinued at some point - meaning the links will stop working!

well you know how c**p I am at these things!

I will mention it to them - I am just pleased that they were there to help me make it work when I really needed help!

Have you tried looking at <./>GuideML-Clinic</.>?
Or failing that, try going to someones user space, and replace the 'U' of their U-number in the address bar with testuserpage... so you get .../h2g2/alabaster/testuserpageXXXXXX where XXXXXX is the number. That way you can see how they wrote their page!
I had to check that was right - so I picked a random user on a thread I had open. On the page analysis, it said "Bad closing element ARTICLE expecting SHEEP"!!!

The message I heard was that h2g2.com links would always work.

Maybe they will... I've just never seen it as 'good practise' to link to somewhere you know will redirect you, if you can link to the eventual destination straight away.

Someone was exoecting Sheep - no wonder I am confised - what does the sheep tag do
And do I need to change my space?

You don't *need* to, no. It'd probably shave a few milliseconds off the loading time for clicking the links, but it looks like they'll work for the forseeable.
The was in a plain-text page - something the page analysis probably isn't really geared towards.

Why do things the difficult way, when doing it the easy way takes only a few seconds longer to type...
Something I just noticed...
GreyDesk Posted Aug 9, 2002
Ah but you've never seem my typing speed. The saving of miliseconds probably wouldn't make it worth it

See, I knew Light was casting aspersions about me and 'non approved links from her favourite Guru' etc.
Actually the most time consuming bit on my page was the POPUP fiasco. The whole lot came with the POPUP attribute (because I like it) and then I found out that that was the BBC default. So I went through and took them all out as they were redundant.
Then the Beeb changes its mind and stops everything opening in a nerw window, so I have to go back and put all the bloody POPUP attributes back again

That's what comes of having too many links...
Actually, seeing as we're on the subject of links... there's a duff one in your musings - each of the saints/also/sinners pages links to the (non-existant) A66150 as the index page - should be A661150

What is the betting that the mods will fail these pages (again) for having far too many links to commercial sites on them?
I feel an e-mail to h2g2support coming on
