Hi Gosho!
Great answers
I like the quote about questions - taking it onboard so to speak I just have to ask...
What is the 'Happy as a fish, gorgeous as geese and wonderfully clean in the morning' all about? I am sure that they are all true but what?
Oh I remember its one of the things I miss as I am not allowed it and so resultantly have become somewhat addicted to and diet coke!
What sort of books do you enjoy reading?
Moving quickly on and side stepping anything to do with tidy ... What are your top tips for keeping cool? I work in an office with an accountant who likes the air conditioning to be set to ice box and colder so I spend lots of time trying to keep warm in the day and cool in the evening Is air conditioning the norm there?
Bugs Bunny...interesting choice. I can see a similar enjoyment and energy for life, a sense of fun. Do you feel that people get the better of you? It is not something I have noticed.
Catch you soon

Hello Light
It's a line from Supper's Ready by Genesis (the Peter Gabriel years). Yeah, I'm that old, and yeah, I was into prog rock in my teens
Sorry if I rubbed salt into an old wound by bringing up , but you did ask about obsessions
It's too damn long since I read a book, and I miss decent newspapers too (I used to take The Independent every day). I like 20th century fiction mostly - Cannery Row, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, On The Road, Stranger in a Strange Land, Necromancer, Grapes of Wrath, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Catch 22, and offbeat British humour - 1066 And All That, the "-Upmanship" books by Stephen Potter, and the St. Custards books by Geoffrey Willans and Ronald Searle (the boys school equivalent of St Trinians). A year or two before I left the UK I started getting into biographies, and I started reading history books again. Since I saw a biography of JRR Tolkien on tv a few weeks ago I've got a hankering to read Lord of The Rings again, which I haven't done for about 25 years. What do you like to read?
Going from one extreme of heat to another like that can't be good for you Air conditioning is indispensible here. We just broke a 76 year old record (I wrote about it in another coversation which know you're in) by reaching or passing 100ºF for 21 days straight, and this is only the middle of summer! Last year we broke another record by getting up to 112º... and that was in September But being able to walk around in shirtsleeves in January sure as hell makes up for it I think you need to talk to your work colleague and ask him/her if he/she is American because Americans are well known for having the a/c turned up so high that you have to wear a sweater indoors in the summer, and the heat turned up so high that you practically have to strip off indoors in the winter. You might also want to appeal to his/her environmental leanings by pointing out that it can't be good for the ozone layer to use so much energy unneccessarily. Failing that, just tell them outright that it's too bloody cold and you're going to turn the thermostat up, or complain to the local working conditions regulation body, so there .
When I was a kid, yes. Not so much now. Being self employed (I was for about 18 years) can do wonders for your self confidence and assertiveness. Also, I was a removal man for most of that time, and built up some pretty fierce looking muscles , and spending all day driving around London in a van gets a person good and mean . And my wife will probably tell you that I'm too bloody selfish and stubborn to let anyone else have their way
Speak to you soon (and reply to your mail)
Gosho

I'll be there, and I have the day off from work too Woohoo When you say you can beam anyone on board, does that mean only real people, or can we bring fictional characters, or anyone from history?

I am really pleased you will be there, I had really hoped we could share some time on our Birthday.
As to the party - the more the merrier, fictional characters seem particularly at home on the ship, why not talk to them and suggest they sign up

Ok, but he's got to be home by 8 for his bath.
A plaintive voice from inside wails "Oh mum, why'd you have to go and say that?"

I've updated my personal space (with a little help from our favourite Dane ). It's taken me all day to do it, which is why I never got around to answering your email, and I haven't finished yet. Wodja think so far?
