6.21.01 Summer
Posted Jun 21, 2001
Well....first day of Summer, and it is raining outside here in the Midwestern US. *sigh* Could be worse, though....could be all hot and muggy like it was last week. I guess we're never happy with the weather around here......when it's cold, we want it to be hot, and vice-versa.
Its quiet here at work today.....calm before the storm, as it were.....waiting on this conversion to a new computer system. It is all gonna hit the fan soon, I'm sure. We just went thru one of these two years ago, and now we have another one, and then two months after this one is finished, we'll do yet another.
I see that as job security!

BETA Software
Posted May 17, 2001
Beware BETA software.....on the surface it seems cool, and may even SEEM to work the way it is supposed to....but then, after a few days of upgraded bliss, other programs tend to start failing, and, of course, since it has been a few days since the momentous upgrade that appeared to be working properly, you have forgotten about the upgrade and spend weeks trying to figure out why something that used to work suddenly stops working. Then, in a sudden epiphany, you remember what you did, and decide to go and remove it, only to find that there IS NO WAY TO remove the program!!!! Oh sure, you could remove the directory it is in, but what about all the other nifty little files it scatters throughout your machine, and all the Registry entries it makes so that it will run "seamlessly" with Windows?
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I miss DOS and the days when programs were all kept in their own individual places and didn't mess with other programs.
OK.....I feel better now.

Our Great Loss
Posted May 15, 2001
I learned today that Mr. Adams passed away. I am unsure what I feel now....whenever I needed a good laugh, or just to get out of a bad spot, he was always there. All I had to do was pick up a book. I know I can still read, but I think it will all be different now that he has left us.
I hope you have a good journey, Mr. Adams......and may you find the questions to all the answers.
