A bit of World Cup Fever?

I don't follow football any other time...I'm more of a rugby girl, like a bit of violence I dosmiley - winkeye

You're lucky though, I can't even see many of the games because of school, tomorrow I'll miss the last half hour and it's really mean because I know that my sister will tell me the score smiley - cry I'd love to be able to skive off school tomorrow and watch the England match and any other day I would because of my free periods...trust the one day I'm desperate to see the match I've got a full time table.

The joys of being 17.

yeah we're pretty lucky with the time zones (this time round). games start at 6:30 pm, with the late games at 11.30pm. so i can watch quite afew. it's having to get sky tv that sucks.

better to be skivving off school than work. my boss knows i like my footbal and would be mighty curious about any missed days.

fingers crossed for the england game

Where are you?

I'm currently dodging siblings, TV's and every form of communication (bar h2g2) which will tell me today's result, I saw up until half time and then had to head to school, I'll just have to wait until later to find out the final score...it was a good game even if England wasn't on great form, loads of good bits towards the end of the first half...and Scholes was so cheated of that goal, bloody goal keeper taps it (barely) and it deflects...and the Nigerian goal keep was like totally inexperienced and fairly desperate at points!

At least Ireland are through, then if England aren't I can support someone in the UKsmiley - smiley

i'm in new zealand.

on saturday i have a grudge match with my sister. she's going for Denmark and i'm going for England. i can see it getting messy.

this is definitly turning into an interesting WC. when i first saw Englands draw i didn't give them much of a chance, now i'm fully behind them.

I hope Englands gets a little further although I'd love for Scotlands to get anywhere, we've never even got past the knockout round and it's pathetic! lol.

At least the England team look presentable...the Argentina team looks seriously slimy!!

I never really get into football on a day to day basis...but the World Cup just seems to bring the fan out in me.smiley - smiley

Well you must be happy with Englands performance against Denmark. thats the best they've played all tounament. about time too.

after only watching highlights for the first round, i managed to watch 3 out of the 4 games played this weekend. it was crazy, but fun. i'm getting agroup together which makes it more amusing, especially as we're all girls so we spend more time saying which is the cutest. your right on the money about argentina, very slimey.

USA Mexico tonight, can't wait

some friends and i were trying to work out what the whole deal was with south americans and porn star hair (long and oily looking) we couldn't find any comparrison with the teams that had it and there neighbor country's that didn't. i wish they'd alll get it cut off. yuck.

mind you one of our commentators over here, who does the half time speal, has gone and got a minny mohawk. what a follower. i think beckham is having a laugh. trying to find out how many people will follow his ridiculous hair cut. at least thats what i hope.

can't wait till friday.

It's nasty...I like Beckhams hair...at least he looks relatively smart, unlike the other teams.

I'm really looking forward to Friday...shame I'm skiving tomorrow off school rather than Friday. Have to go to the bloody local art exhibition and really can't be bothered...football's far more important and interesting than getting ideas for my portfolio smiley - winkeye

Especially as this is the decider...whoever wins this match is most likely to win. You got any bets on?

I'm saying England but I'm an optimist and want a UK team to win, even though the English will be horrendous to live with if they do win...I mean they're still gloating over the last time...I wish Scotland would get their act together, get through and kick some serious arse!

(There's no Scottish English rivalry here obviously smiley - winkeye although their/our national anthem is so anti Scottish

Scatter our enemies,
And make them fall!
Confound their knavish tricks,
Confuse their politics,
On you our hopes we fix,
God save the Queen!

Okay so it doesn't say, "oy you Scotland...we're gonna beat the crap out of you" but it's the pricipal...The Archers should be our national anthem!) smiley - laughsmiley - hug

i'll assume your scottish then. the rivalry between neighbors aye. we hate the australians more than anyone, except when there playing someone else then we support them, it's great fun.

no bets on. i'm to chicken. i'm in the pool on h2g2 and am currently running 7th. 1 of my guesses last round was right. so i think i'll keep out of predictions.

my problem is i love england (i'm half english) and would love to see them win. but i also love brazilian football. it's so great to watch. i would have preferred an england/ brazil final. as i think there the only two teams left that i think should win.

i'm incredibly biased.

can't wait till friday

Mmmm, well if we're going on the basis of family Background I should have supported Ireland (which I did) and Belgium before I went anywhere near England. But they've got a relatively good squad this year, and it would be nice for them to win.

i'd have to agree with Ireland but a ways back, plus scotland. and my sister was supporting Denmark because if you go back far enough thats were we started. but i think i'll stay with the present and support england. nearly wore my england shirt to work today, then i decided that me boss wouldn't be to happy.

only hours to go

i was waffling on about family backgrounds. if i remember correctly we came to england from denmark, via ireland and scotland. but it was a very long time ago. i really have to be more careful how i put things as people seem to get confused alot.

so who are you supproting now then?

plus are you goping in for any of these conspiracy theories with the south koreans?

What theories?

Dunno who I'm supporting...don't really fancy supporting Brazil, they were playing really dirty on Friday.

I recon is Seaman hadn't had that fall they could have saved that goal and gone into penaltiessmiley - sadface

the italians have started a conspiracy theory that FIFA is keeping Korea in the world cup. there siteing numerous dissllowed goals against other teams as proof. plus the fact that they were beaten. all to do with seth blatter keeping the presidents job.

That's not smiley - bleeping fair!

I dare say I won't watch the matches until the final big one...part of me really doesn't want Brazil to win...they've done too many times before.
