Sorry reread my post on the dysmorphia thread and felt it was a bit smart arse and abrupt!
The mirror box trials are just so subjective and have been trialed on such a small population that I don't feel they are clinicaly relevant, not yet anyway. If your gonna trial something like this then you need to have a control you can compare it against. The amount of time and effort spent on one patient you could easily expect this to make a major impact regardless of whether the box was there or not!

I didn't I thought it was an informative post from someone in a position to know about the issues being discussed!

I quite agree! I thought there had been such trials but you are right in saying it is just single point data, whith one to one experimentation and therapy which, as you say, brings up the 'bedside manner' affect of treatment. Or at least I could find no such trials either.
I'm just feeling a bit dim for spouting 'treatments' without actually fully investigating the science behind them for myself first, something I usually make a point of. Oh well, we all make mistakes!

Found some stuff on PubMed about congenital limb loss/deformity and PLS.
Interesting it seems to indicate that the PLS only manifests following some sort of trauma or incident involving either the stump or the limb part that does exist.

and posted it on the other thread. Just posting here cos I'm interested in your opinion on it! Seems to be done by some peeps working in your area with prosthetic limbs.
Key: Complain about this post
