This is the one I was asking for help on the application in AskH2G2.
So it's all your fault !

Actual reasons given were a checklist of 8 points to grade applications for interview. I didn't make the cut cos I didn't meet all of them. Chief amoungst them being that I was already in such a role or had been in the last 12 months. The others were a list of specific task experiences which I have but obviously did not make explicit enough in my application. By the sounds of it is was #1 that did for me though. Not that any of these things were specified in the 'requirements' section of the job spec produced.

And anyways, apparently 44 applications from those more experienced than me so even if I did get to interview I doubt I would have got it.

Never mind, bit annoyed at the response as it is a rather patronising 'this is how you can get to be of the level required for this job' when I'v done the flippin' job, in a more demanding environment, for the period suggested and it is on my application. But it was 2.5yrs ago now.

Still, at least you do have a job at the moment. Maybe something even better will come along...

And as you say, I am at least gainfully employ until Jan 2012. And who knows what else may turn up.

Never nice when things don't turn out how you want, but hey. Moving on...

Oh, I'm sorry you didn't get this one. I am sure many more great opportunities will avail themselves between now and Jan 2012, though!

Some places/ people are really hung up on background details that make no sense- like when you have all the experience but not recently enough, or when you don't have a master's degree but rather ten or more years experience in your field, etc.
