What do they think of us?
IctoanAWEWawi Started conversation May 9, 2010
I've always found cultural differences fascinating.
And especially interested in how forriners think of us Brits (since I am a Brit!). There used to be a program on telly over here, ITV I think, called something like 'What do they think of us' which showed adverts and tv programmes from around the world and their perceptions of the British. Can't remember the guy that presented, well known in his time but the name escapes me.
Anyhoo, just to say I have recently discovered http://www.anglotopia.net/ which is a fascinating look at British life from an American (and expat American) viewpoint. Some very interesting comparative posts on there.

I have an American friend - we've had some interesting conversations about the misunderstandings caused by language differences.
My Japanese connections have shown me a little of how they perceive us, although a lot of their image of the West is actually American based.
Probably interesting to read the information given to prospective tourists from different countries!
