What fun. Instead of being at my sister's enjoying xmas day with her and her kids, I'm sat at home after naff all sleep cos my tooth is playing up again and the abcess seems to have come back. This only 1 month after I was told it all looked ok. No their fault, I know, but annoying nonetheless.

Ah well, off to try a&e in a bit. Taken 2 500mg paracetamol and its hardly touched it.

Just hope I can find somewhere to sell me the prescription today!

You poor soul; what a bloody dreadful combination, Christmas & toothache!



If all else fails, try a hot toddy (if you have some brandy or rum or whisky type stuff); it will help damp the pain down a bit & hopefully help you sleep & at least make you feel a bit better.

Too much paracetomol is seriously dangerous; do be careful...

Emerg dentist didn't open till 10am yesterday and pharmacy not till 11am. Still, got meself some co-codamol and some amoxycillin. Seems to be doing the trick although it took till about 6pm yesterday for it to kick in!

So christmas is postponed till the end of the week for me!

Interesting things to note from the experience.
Dentist in the emerg surgery was talking to the receptionist/dental nurse about the messages left on the emerg number. Quote from the dentist 'Whats he got? Tooth ache? No swelling? Nope, not seeig him. No one ever died of tooth ache' And then talking about triage, whch I thought a little severe for the occasion

Second was the pharmacy, ot the swishest or biggest in town. But the owner turns up at 11 driving one of the porsche 4x4 things. So no wonder he was happy about working christmas day!

It'll certainly be a memorable Christmas!

went to see dentist the other day and got him to refer me for an apicectomy. Which should be fun but if it clears it up then it'll be worth it!

apicectomy - now there's a word that rolls off the tongue!

ach, it's not so bad! It's done under a local and they cut and fold back the gum then hack through the upper jaw to reveal the tip of the tooth then just remove that. Thing is, it's my left canine tooth so the tip of the root is somewhere near the base of my nose I think!
I'll give you all the gory details when it happens!

When she visits, she waxes lyrical on some procedure or other, then turns and asks when I am going to make an appointment for my check-up!
