Hi Alji,
Here I am (course, that statement must always be true...)! That Guide ML screen looks fantastic, thank you! I especially like the mindfulness picture. It was very kind of you to go to that trouble.
BusyBodhi now, so I won't update it just yet, but soon!
Take care,

Hello again.
Perhaps you should know that when it comes to PCs, I'm the kind of user who needs to be started off with the kind of instruction "raise finger above keyboard, bring down onto key and apply pressure..."
I tried highlighting the new page you created for me then copying by Ctrl+C and pasting into my edit box using Ctrl+V.
The text got pasted, but the picture and formatting got left out.
How should I copy it?
Thanks,
Bod

I am a human being who wishes to be happy and free from suffering. So there's one thing we have in common already.

The name "Bodhisattva" is not a description of who I am, but rather where I'm aiming for. It is a Mahayana Buddhist term to describe someone who, although enlightened, chooses not to enter nirvana but rather to stay behind to bring happiness and freedom from suffering to others. There's a Buddhist prayer below which expresses this ideal; I hope you like it.

The following are some readings and thoughts I'd like to share.
IDEAS
IDEAS
"Ideas are such live, sparkling, dynamic entities. Most are born not in solitude but as a result of exchanges between people - conversation, reading, experimentation, or just swapping daydreams"
Vanessa Baird, "The Little Book of Big Ideas"
... which is why I enjoy conversations on h2g2 and reading.

"Buddhists Talk about Jesus, Christians Talk about the Buddha", Rita M Gros and Terry C Muck, 1999, ISBN 0-8264-1196-7
I highly recommend this book to all Buddhists and Christians, and indeed to everybody who pursues a spiritual path.
THE TRUTH
THE TRUTH
There is a large, thick forest. It has plants and trees of every size and hue. There are streams running through it, and there are many different kinds of soil within it. Amidst the plants and trees there are medicinal herbs, whose fragrance spreads throughout the forest. A dense cloud hovers over the forest, and moistens all the trees, plants and medicinal herbs, so that they can grow and thrive.
In this parable the trees and plants represent the many different types of people that inhabit the earth. The different types of soil represent the different nations and cultures in which people live. The medicinal herbs are the enlightened teachers. And the dense cloud is the truth.
Saddharma Pundarika (Lotus Sutra) 5
A BUDDHIST PRAYER
A BUDDHIST PRAYER
With a wish to free all beings
I will always go for refuge
to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha
until I reach full enlightenment
Enthused by wisdom and compassion
Today in the Buddha's presence
I generate the mind for full awakening
For the sake of all sentient beings
As long as space endures
As long as sentient beings remain
Until then may I too remain
And dispel the sufferings of the world
THE LORD'S PRAYER (CORRECTED TRANSLATION)
THE LORD'S PRAYER (CORRECTED TRANSLATION)
Our Daddy, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors
and do not put us to the test
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
RATIONALITY
RATIONALITY
"It seems to me remarkable how many people choose conclusions (beliefs) then seek pseudo-rational justifications of those beliefs, rather than interpreting facts and evidence to arrive at a set of philosophically sound beliefs.
People walking backwards bump into things."
Quoting myself there, which may indicate an ego problem...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
