insomnia
Posted Apr 28, 2001
Insomnia is the loose skin that attmpts to wrap my soul.
Life is so much better when you can sleep.
If you can't, the void becomes that mush closer, that much more relevant.
I first noticed my penchant for sleep deprevation during my high-school days.
In those days it was a very dangerous thing for my health, but not much more.
I would sleep an average of 2 hours a night and then wake up at 5am for a slice of toast and basketball practice to start my day.
Days would pass by as if they were part of a Fellini festival.
Nights would pass by like decades staring at useless floor tiles and water stained ceilings.
When high-school was survived the boredom became true danger.
A working man cannot function without sleep as he did in his schooling days.
Atlas was never asked to hold such a burden.
The wars waged between exhaustion and neccesity became hightened and over-exploited.
The only thing which saves you is the properly timed collapse, preferably with a two day window.
So that you can sink into the bed that seperates you once more from the abyss, from the void, from your waking self.
And then: you gather your freshened forces once more, take up arms, and begin again.
