THE INSPIRING NATURE OF CABLE STREET, 1936
Shalom Rubenstein Started conversation Jan 3, 2002
I recently read some literature on the Cable Street Riots of 1936.
I don't know how much you know about them, but basically, the British Communist Party and several Jewish Radical groups joined forces to wreak havok on a BUF march that was to take place in a heavily Jewish area in the East End of London. Communists, Jewish radicals, Jewish Communists and Communist radicals came from all over Britain to fight, and, after a harsh battle with the police, the BUF march was stopped.
Anyhow, reading of said events has re-kindled my activist flame and, seeing as the ZCRS seems to be a bit on the non-existent side right now, I thought I'd come to the Kalashnikov party to see if I could lend a hand.
Sign me up, Bob.
Yours in a blaze of left-wing fervour,
Shalom Rubenstein

Hell yes, its always good to have somebody new on board (although admittedly since I started this crazy-ass party this is the only time we have had somebody else on board!). Wow our membership just increased by 50%. Cool.
We are not a zionist or jewish party but as we have the interests of all of humanity in mind we will try to (and always have) represent the jewish peoples of earth as much as any other.
Welcome comrade!!! Viva the revolution. etc

Just to clarify, I didn't write that last post in my respect as a Zionist; merely as a communist.
Your party is the only organisation that I know of with a membership of more than 1 which comes close to representing what I believe in.
Anyhow, and in the most genuine possible sense of the question...
What now?

Weeeeeell, thats really a matter of, erm. Good question. Mostly we are dedicated to education of the masses (dim as they may be we do have to try after all) and of course ourselves (yep still delving through Gramsci! by the way hows Das Kapital going?.
Really though I need to draft up some kind of party manifesto but I could really do with getting my copy of The Manifesto (if only I could remember how italics are done), I could do with some help with this so we really could do with a party conference of some kind. I'll have to talk with covert before I can really get back to you on that one. Of course most of my own work is writing my essays and theorums and other half cooked chunks'o'marxist thought (you should probably give it a go), don't forget you can read as much of the works of other marxist thinkers as you want but the most important thing is to really get to grips with it yourself, put your own slant on it sort of thing.
My ultimate goal would be to produce some kind of work that not only represents our aims as a party but almost redifines Marxism for the modern age. Many areas, as you know, have become while not out of date and in need of replacement could definitely benefit from a good dust and polish. Sounds crazy but then again thats me for you. I'm going to definitely need some help and your input would be more than welcome, of course if you know any other worthy candidates then put them forward (admittedly I can only really think of you and possibly one or two other people, one of whom I'm not really in touch enough with and the other would be a marxist if she believed in anything)
I'll have to talk with you more about this party manifesto thing.

I am in total agreement as far as the necessity for a party manifesto goes.
And as for the original manifesto, I've gone and bloody lost mine, which was damn stupid. (I did finish it first, though, and I'm about two chapters into Das Capital.)
You can, however, if you (or rather your friend Tom) has a lot of time and fast computer, download the Manifesto from:

Incidentally, you might be interested in the rest of that site (you'll figure out how to navigate it when you get there). I found a very fascinating document called 'The Demands of the Communist Party,' written by Karl, Fred and the gang. You may have read it. It's the most succinct outline of the aims of practical Marxism, and could easily be modified and revise to form the basis of a modern manifesto.
Have a look at it, get back to me.
As for party conference, although I'm not a 'senior' member, if you can organise one, I'd be honoured to attend.
'til next time.
Shalom Rubenstein.

I have to get my copy back off of a mate I have lent it to. Is there anyway we could maybe do an online conference? Although as my good freind Andrew has just pointed out there would be no finger buffet, damn I hadn't thought of that.
Still I will see you at the next squad meet. It restarts sometime in february near the end so I understand. Anyway I have to go and get a job and bring about the revolution and do some work.
The joys.

Create a Yahoo Club. It's perfect for this kind of dialogue.

I missed me at the nationals, too.
Bad bout of influenza.
Thanks for the invite.
And if you can't retrieve your copy of the Manifesto, I've got a new one, so you can borrow that.

I've seen the group.
Tres cool.
However, if you encounter any problems with it, I'd reccomend starting a Yahoo 'club.' They're slightly different to 'groups' in as much as they have a simpler format and are more user friendly and accessable.
But until such a time as the aforementioned problems are encountered, I'm happy to stick with the group.
Shalom Rubenstein.

Ignore my last post.
Covered, as I am, in a shroud of impermeable ignorance, I did not realise that Yahoo Clubs are merging with Yahoo Groups.
Forgiveness, please.

Dear Messrs. Bob & Bob:
I don't want to sound pedantic but...
You appear to be neglecting the Yahoo Group.
I fully understand the restraints placed on you by time/practicality etc., but I mean, you did create the thing.
Yours,
Mr. S. Rubenstein
