I LOVE Piers Anthony! I have to admit it's been far too long since I've picked up one of his novels. I'm not sure of the reference you're making regarding the name. Though to be honest I've only read about a dozen of the Xanth novels, and that was many years ago. Please enlighten mesmiley - smiley

???confused!!! 'Gourdpicker' in Xanth if you look into a gourd you go INTO the gourd....Hmm, trying to remember, it's been a long time since I read any...The night Mare's? Those people made of brass? The brassies, I think(!) Someone has to break your eye-contact with the gourd to get you out...
Have you read the 'Incarnations of Immortality' series?

Yeah,I've read the Incarnations. Have you read the Apprentice Adept series? (My personal favorite). Or how about the Split Infinity series?

Some of them, but can't recall which... Hang on, I've got 'Robot Adept' on my bookshelf, so I've obviously read that one! Trouble is, when I still lived at my mum's (many years ago!) we had a fire, and all of my belongings were destroyed, including of course all the books I owned at that point. I was really into Piers Anthony when I was about ten or eleven, but haven't read a lot since...must search out some old fave's for re-reading! How about William Horwood? Duncton wood, Callanish, Skallagrigg, Thomas Covenant?

Sadly I haven't read anything from the authors you mentioned, at least not that I can remember. I'll take your word for their worthiness though.... I totally agree with your assessment of "The Green Mile". I can't think of a better treatment of a novel.

Ooops..William Horwood is the author, the rest are books he's written...sorry, I'm not being very clear at this unholy hour... Skallagrigg is a must-read, 'Callanish' and the 'Duncton' series are a pleasure...There are about six books in the 'Covenant' series but they are extremely hard going, and not to be read when you're feeling depressed! Oh, and just remembered, 'Jerusalem Man' is another fave of mine.

I absolutely adored The Green Mile, Film and book.. I've found Stephen King writes two very different styles of book, Green Mile being totally different from such as 'Desperation'. Other goodies by King are 'Rose Madder' 'Insomnia' and 'The Talisman' which is a collaboration with someone...
Have you read anything by Julien May?

Have not read anything by Julien May, as for the Covenant series--I'm in a perpetually depressed mood lately, so I'll probably have to wait on that, (see my latest journal entry for the object of my current nose displacement).

I sent it but it came back, apparently your server only accepts mails of a certain size, or something?? Do you have some sort of restriction on what mail it accepts?

Yeah, apparently the tiny electronic postman that delivers the messages has a bad back or something. I was suspecting that was the case. I've got an account with yahoo as well -- [email protected] -- I'm not sure if you'll have any better luck, (there are rumours that the tiny postman there has weak knees), but if you're up for the attempt I'd be very, very smiley - smiley

Sorry, Gourdpicker, we're filling up your space!!
Piers Anthony wrote the 'Xanth' series, among others, and when I saw your name I thought it was a referance to one of the books...How's you? Having fun?? smiley - smiley
