Crazy Little Thing Called h2g2
Posted Apr 13, 2001
I've been here for over a week and visited some great sites, communicated with nice people, had a really good time doing all this, but my phone bill is here and unless I can change to a better tarriff, I am going to have to spend a lot less time here.
BUT I had been thnking, with watching the "who's online" section, and the way it takes time for anyone to even see that you have arrived, that maybe I have been online too much in comparison to other researchers, maybe I should restrict myself to something manageable, like 1 hour a week.
Anyway, just thought that I would make a note of that, I have a phone bill here that would make history.
Memo: check alternative charging regimes on the phone line...
bye...

My Non Compatible System.
Posted Apr 7, 2001
Just a word about this, as a lot of my stuff has been lost or erased as you will see from following the threads of my contributions.
I have a set top box kind of thing as I have an OnDigital terrestial digital television reciever.
This means that I have no Microsoft software, no intel processors, and cookies and java script are things I read about in these pages.
For my convenience, and as a phone bill saving feature, no activity for 10 minutes meant that the phone link was disconnected.
This meant in practice that I would be in the middle of something and loose it when the phone line went off line.
I have now changed this to a 20 minute delay, and I may go to 30 minutes as it can only help.
And another thing, if I used the "prev" key to refer to what I thought I was talking about, then that would mean that I lost all the work that I had done.
Does that help????????

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
