Major Hazard

Hi Kristina,

Thanks for the welcome - people are very friendly around here. No questions yet except what is the etiquette about changing nicknames? I have noticed several that are more dramatic and expressive than my pedestrian first attempt.

And thanks for the link to the smileys - v.useful smiley - biggrin

People keep changing their nick names every now and then depending on what kind of mood they're in, and adding titles when they've joined some interesting group of h2g2 researchers.

These are official titles: ACE, Guru, Scout, and if you run into anyone with their name in italics, then that's someone from the h2g2 editorial team (staff).

Then there are some unofficial titles: Guardian Angel, Muse, Keeper, Zaphodista, Lazy B*stards and so on, and so on... try using the 'search' function if you want to learn more about them.

Before deciding about your nick name, it might be a good idea to click on the 'search' button, and then try the 'search for a friend'. That way you can make sure no one else has chosen the same name. There is no rule against having the same name as another researcher - it's quite common when it comes to the characters from Douglas Adams' books - but it could cause some confusion, making people take you for someone else.
