Missile Defence : A Balence View?
Posted Jul 4, 2001
This week a load of Greenpeace protestors broke in to Menwith Hill base in North England.
Menwith Hill base is basically a thinly disguised US based on UK land, the guards on the gate are English, but the Stars and Stripes is flying on the inside.
The Greenpeace protestors are comlaining about the fact the Menwith Hill may be used as part of the US' controversial "Son of Star Wars" Missile Defence Program.
Why Missile Defence is a good idea :
1) The Citzens protected by the sheild will gain greater saftey and peace of mind.
Why Missile Defence is a bad idea :
1) It don't work : the latest USAF tests are still missing the incoming missile by literally MILES
2) It may start a new arms race : once the US has one , everybody will want one.
3) No country is gonna want to Nuke the US. If you Nuke the US, you will face assured destruction by the US' frankly massive arsenal
4) The only people who are gonna want to Nuke to US are terrorists. Terrorists don't have intercontinental ballistic misslies. Terrorists have vans or trucks with an ex-USSR second hand warhead in the back. The Missile Defence System is useless against trucks.
5) The missile defence system costs a sh*tload. Why not spend the money on something like education, environment or healthcare.

Politics and Dubya...
Posted Apr 5, 2001
Sino-Chinese relations are at breaking point, and Dubya's pissed-off Europe (and the rest of the world) by anouncing he wil not ratify the kyoto treaty....how on earth did this man become president.... this guy is useless...
He seems to have no grasp of the world as it functions outside the US.. oh, how I wish Al Bore was in charge now, at least he has a clue about diplomatic relations and such matter.... I am thoughly scared by the attitudes the Bush, and the people in the US who follow him.... the worst ever chance for world peace....
