Hiya,
I'm dropping around because I want to hear your opinions on the proposals for the new h2g2. `As you know that there's lots of opinions and lots of threads around the site and Ben's worked really hard to draw the conclusions of the threads together into one great big document:

http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B2ZHau0jbhEIYTEwMjkzMmUtNzA0NC00YTY1LWJhMDYtNDNlOWQwNWZmNDNk&hl=en&authkey=CLvWzbIH

We know that you've not commented much, but we'd really like to know what you think, we want to make sure we hear all voices, not just those that shout the loudest.. this has been an attempt to summarise what the community thinks, and we need to hear all opinions, including yours.. so please do let me know what you think, or e mail me on [email protected]

Thanks! for the e mail - did the link to the document work. It's a proposal about how h2g2c2 could run h2g2 after the BBC had pulled out.. ?

pg 17 says Search is SO naughties... Do you mean the aughts?
This has been an ongoing debate over the last ten years about what to call that decade. the terms readily accepted in the UK are not accepted in the US and visa versa.
Just consider my recently released update on Michigan A143849
In Peer Review I was coerced into saying "In the first decade of this Millenium" because the word aughts (commonly accepted in the US) was not acceptable to British ears.
Also Notice that I have a non Aprroved version A70993911 in which I have multiple images while the Approbved one which insists only editors insert graphics limits the page to one.

I notice on page 24 and pages after that you Keep the term Approved status. I would much rather it was "reviewed status" rather than approved. I remeber the Hitchhikers guide said one book was 4 of 3
I note the end of your document says 53 of 52.

I still don't see what the flap over "bull finches" is
Why not let the community once a year authorise a board of directors and let the board vote by e-mail as to who will hold the top spot, and how much authority he will hold.
I also note the absense of the term "curator" Is this (like gurus) fading away?

Hi shagbark. This is really useful stuff. I'll be doing the next update at he weekend.

Not sure what do do with the naughties - I'll probably opt out and say it's less important han it was and leave it at that.

I never did hear. Will the new (post-bbc) hootoo have curators?

At the moment the term in the GBD is bullfinch smiley - blush That was a *really* bad idea of mine.

These conversations stalled slightly. Jordan doesn't like the term Editor, but he is outnumbered by those that don't like the term Curator.

My guess, and it's a guess, is we'll stick with what we've got for the moment. But if it were up to me (which it isn't) I'd have "editorial volunteers" and leave it at that.
