Hanny's Voorwerp
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Started conversation Oct 9, 2008
Hi Shagbark
I don't know if you've heard of Hanny's Voorwerp but I've put this together: A40948095 currently in Peer Review. Imagine my astonishment this morning to find out that it lies in Leo Minor (not one of mine) so I feel obliged to ask you as the author if you mind if I update your Entry with the piece I have written, as soon as it becomes accepted and published by the Editors, of course. I'd add a couple of sentences and a link to my Entry, I can run it by you here first if you like.

I don't see any problem as long as the addition is short enough that it doesn't overwhelm the article.
Also perhaps we should add IC2497 to the table, although I have been able to find very little info about it online.

I note google sky does show both the galaxy and the voorwerp.

Really?
I was not intending to overwhelm your article, just add it to the table and maybe write a couple of lines in the text and slap in my EGE to Hanny's Voorwerp.
Does it feel as if that little lion cub is looking straight at you?

I have added IC2497 to your table.

a couple of lines added and a link will be fine with me.
It looks like our constellation project is better looking than the one at BBC Science

They have pulled the plug on that, and I asked the Eds if they are going to replace them with our constellation series, but they don't know. I even rang Sir Patrick Moore to ask him, and he said it was nothing to do with him, but we had a nice chat anyway
The Voorwerp was accepted today

So I would presume the new sentence would be between the galaxy table and the 'Down to Earth' header.
Or would you prefer to put it above the table?

Have a look now, it's under a separate header because it's not an NGC object, and I've written two sentences. Linked to the APOD page. I will add my EGE A-number when it's gone live.

It looks good there. I think maybe you should add the further info-
'this strange object was discovered by a dutch schoolteacher Hanny Van Arkel'
all for now -shagbark

I am happy to add a bit more, but I am cautious because you said (above):

Did you read my Voorwerp article that's now pending? Because I just typed in what you said about being able to search for it in google sky when it was recommended
It might go FP today

You're welcome. Didn't you get an email from the Eds?

I was doing other things that day and have three e-mail accounts so it was after I read my h2g2 that I looked at that in-box.
Sure enough the article was note from the editors was there.
