Hold-ups

Well, since I needed to go in a fairly long car journey to get across here to Belgium, I figured I'd take the medical advice and wear some hosiery - I figured a couple quid investment to stave off thrombosis was a pretty good deal, all told. And, contrary to all the whinging you hear, they appear to be neither deathly uncomfortable, nor overly hot and sweaty, not nastily itchy. I was pleasantly surprised.
And there's definately not enough usage made by comedians of people putting hold-ups over there heads in order to HOLD UP (*boom boom*) a train or somesuch. 
Then again, maybe they're right...
