a tribute to the Challenger space shuttle, which exploded 20 years ago on 28 January 1986.
Ron McNair, one of the austronauts was a saxophone player. the France synthesizer artist Jean Michel Jarre composed "rendez-vous", a special piece of music for him to played from space. "rendez-vous" was planed as celebration of NASA's 25th and Houston's 150th aniversay. the part Ron would have was renamed "last rendez-vous: Ron's piece".
the concert was on 5 April 1986 1.3 million people watched Jean Michel Jarre light up sky with his show! "Ron's piece" was played as tribute.

I remembered it, because I bought dvd/cd with Jean Michel Jarre "Solidarnosc" concert in Poland.
parts of "rendez-vous" were played as a tribute to Polish men in Harbour, the founding of "Solidarnosc", the start to end of Communism in Poland and Pope Jean Paul II
this happened in 1980. the concert was celebration of 25 aniversary of "Solidarnosc". Lech Walesa, a former leader of "Solidarnosc" and former Premier of Poland was a guest during concert.

I remember it well.
For some reason the hubby was home - (before he was hubby)
We watched the lift-off together.
It was shocking - getting chills now from the vivid memory.
