Today got some mail. My father belonged to a book club; the letter they sent, started with this sentence:

"Prof. van der Merwe, you would be in the Seventh Heaven ..."

Well, I'm hoping he *is* there!

Wow. I'm sure he is, Willem, but that's a startling kind of letter to receive.

Was it in English or Afrikaans?

So do I, I am sure he is Did they not know, or are they just unthinking Somebody will have a red face when they find out.

Elektra got a startling letter in the mail the other day...it was from her insurance company, and said, 'You will be eligible for Medicare in three months.'

This is not true - she's not nearly old enough.

She has found out that someone in a doctor's office copied her birth date wrong. Now she has to sort it out.

Hello there folks! Sorry I'm only getting here now. Hectic and also I've recently changed over to a different broadband, having a bit of trouble connecting to the 'net.

Websailor, this was a 'form letter' and I doubt any ways whether these people care for individual members of the club ... my mom has ended the membership already but we will probably get some promotional stuff from them for a while longer.

Sorry to hear about Elektra's wrong birth date! Hope she can get it sorted out. Over here some people are stuck with certain things for life because someone made a mistake somewhere. My mother has been listed as 'Annetta' instead of 'Annette' on 'official' documents all her life because if I'm not mistaken, someone made a spelling mistake on her birth certificate.

That can get changed here.

For instance, my father only knew that his name was wrong on this birth certificate when he was drafted into the army. They changed it. Otherwise his first name would have been 'Junior'.

I could never figure out what was wrong with all those doctors. I had uncles on both sides of the family (two different states) whose names were written down wrong.

I wrote a long reply to this yesterday all about my birth certificate which had also been filled in incorrectly.

I really must remember to post them. Fortunately I printed it out so will be able to enjoy it myself - and share it with my family.
