Lesotho revisited

Perhaps subconsciously prompted by the talk in the pre-Beeb era about a guide entry on Lesotho I have now booked my holiday there.
I shall be trecking across Lesotho on a pony next spring (your time - i.e. August/September).
I've got my guide book sorted, my flights booked and all systems are go - and I'm quite excited at the prospect, I can tell you.
So - perhaps we will be able to write a definitive guide entry on the roof of Africa then.

Hey! I wondered about you - I saw you were back online, but they removed your picture! Anyways, I also have been *close* to Lesotho recently: we had a hike in the Natal Drakensberg over last year's Christmas season. There wasn't a chance for going into Lesotho though, but I will probably make it before too long. But as you'll be going there, do all the research you can, and tell me about it; I have already written a bit about the natural features of Lesotho, which are basically the same as the Natal and Free State parts of the high Drakensberg country that I am already rather familiar with. It's just the Lesotho culture and general atmosphere that I am not familiar with.

You sound like a brave type - I assume there are going to be some friends along with you on that trek. Me, I am still a bit cautious about going into Lesotho, because of the nonsense our guys have been up to over there, and general unrest and suspicion of white folk that is still rather rife over the whole Southern African region.

But I will try and see if I can get there some day. I also want to see if I can go to Zimbabwe. That's also a beautiful country, much closer to where I live than Lesotho, but there has also been a lot of unnecessary nonsense over there. Sigh...

Well - my impression was that the people in Lesotho (except Maseru, naturally) were just about as friendly as it is possible to be.
