The smell of summer rain

It was raining as I left the office tonight, light but insistent summer rain. Summer rain's nice for the first minute, then you start looking for cover. The smell is amazingly evocative.
My legs have been getting worse through the day. (No, Peta, I don't play rounders very often, I thought it was obvious ) They feel incredibly stiff. Sleeping tonight is either going to be really uncomfortable or I'll pass out as soon as I hit the pillow.
So, anyway, we played rounders yesterday and it was fab. I got up too late, missed the pub lunch but made it onto the Common in time for the start of the game. The rest can be seen (with pictures! in colour!) in my user entry on the subject. Afterwards I headed north again to visit my friend Danielle who spends most of her time in Paris these days, so I don't see her often. We walked through Kenwood during an operatic concert. Hampstead Heath cheers me up immensely these days (as Kass demonstrated to me a couple of months ago) and I must visit it more often.
Media of the day: Someone's done a remix of the sound of Spectrum tape loading.

(Clever of the guy to be loading a SCREEN$, which can give you some interesting rhythms)

I thought it was fab too. Rounders you did good Yoz, I admired your determined efforts! What can we do for the Staff Christmas Party? Ideas please everyone only three months to plan it.

Heh! Memories!!! Kind of sounds like the new Chemical Brothers album. Did I tell you about Aphex Twin's recent(ish) concert where he blasted the Ocean C64 loading music out of his massive PA, silencing most of the crowd who were all muttering "hey, I'm sure I know what this is".
How odd it is that there's a whole bunch of people still remixing the old tunes from computer games, most notably at http://www.c64audio.com where this guy actually did a proper CD, with the help of the original people responsible for them! And he managed to sell well over 1000 too. Most indie labels would be happy with that on a chart release!

I guess rounders may be a little less fun in the middle of winter. Unless, of course, TDV wants to pay for a load of us to go over to, say, The Bahamas, for a game

Great idea. Just a few select representatives for the away team....

Oh yeah, I've been to that site a few times... my favourite is the '97 remix of Crazy Comets.
It's also great getting a SID player and grabbing some of the original tunes... I've got a SID plugin for Winamp, and the SID files for Rasputin, Sanxion and Thing Bounces Back, which are all gorge.

Hey, sounds brilliant to me! I may have a tough time persuading management to cough up, though.

Hey - this is part of my youth And besides, the guys that wrote this stuff often improved on their contemporaries such as Moroder, Jarre, etc. It's not really what I'm into now, but I think some of the remixes of these old tunes are great - modern sounds + nostalgia. Yoz, for the very best go to listen.to/trace for a mix of Exploding Fist. Great stuff. Okay, so maybe it is a bit geeky, but I don't care.
And I've got the whole HVSID collection too!

Did I say '97 remix? I meant '98. The '97 one ain't much cop.
