I have reached the point of no more sensible typing...passed it long ago some might argue but who are they to comment? I kept a diary for years (the predictable ones between 15 and 20) but it's fun to ramble on without really caring who sees this or not. Unlike the last diary I kept. One of the more embarrassing things I can remember is leaving my bag at a party and finding out that, in the process of determining whose bag it was, the people left at the party found the diary and read it. Particularly embarrassing because most of them were mentioned...ooops! A long time ago but I still cringe at the thought. Oh well, long ago and long forgotten I hope. Actually the guy whose house it was is dead. And so is one other guy who was there. I don't want to continue down that avenue any more.
I sent a rambling email to Louise earlier about the parallel universe I seem to be inhabiting these days. The recent bombs in London, the ongoing bombing of Serbia (and Iraq although we don't really hear about that any more) the shooting of Jill Dando - it all is filed under 'I don't believe I'm living through this...make it not be happening'. I wonder what her response will be. My command of basic grammar seems to have taken flight along with my ability to think sensibly about copyright and the internet. I'm just waiting for Al to show up with a beer and then I'm going home. After this last week I feel as if I have permanently bonded with my chair...ow. Time for a breath of fresh air on the balcony.

I had similar thoughts on the parallel universe when hearing the news of the recent shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. I grew up a few blocks from there, and I'm still staggering in disbelief and trying to balance anger and total frustration. ...I would write more, but it's difficult to think of anything to say.

Hey Kate,
sorry I didn't spot your reply before now. How funny that it was you who replied. We've been in touch before in or did you know already? Clue = copyright smiley - smiley

...but I must admit I ran a search on your e-mail. I was interested to see what all you gorgeous people at TDV would write in your journals.

Hope things have calmed down for you a bit (although I suspect they haven't)!

Hey Kate

sorry it took me so long to reply - I've been out of the office and in the library preparing for my finals which are all of 10 days away (aaaargh!!). I should've guessed it wasn't quite random for you to find me although I much preferred it when I thought it was a coincidence. Such a shame you had to find such incoherent depressed rambling - there goes my fabulously efficient legal image smiley - winkeye
