Hi Tal,
Can you tell me what you mean by that please.

I just liked the juxtaposition of your questions:
Question 1-->'Can anyone tell me why some people think that Elvis is Alive'
Question 2-->'Or why We are supposed to be The only Intelligent life in the universe'
Believing Elvis is alive may not be intelligent

People believe in things because it gratifies some psychological need.
Some people say they believe the earth is actually flat.
Others believe Elvis is still alive - BTW, Waylon Jennings has a song called 'Nobody Knows I'm Elvis' , hilarious.
Still other people can look into the infinity of space, with countless galaxies of stars and planets, and believe we humans are the only sentient creatures.
Intelligence is a very ambiguous word, wouldn't you say?
I do not 'know', as a personally verified fact, that Elvis is dead. However, I am willing to put my trust in Occam's Razor: the simpler the explanation, the better. So for me, it is simpler to believe that, yes, Elvis has definitely left the building.
The same principle suggests that it is more likely there are other sentient 'intelligent' beings elsewhere in the Universe.
I suppose it would be possible to prove Elvis' demise, if one were to dig up the grave, subject the contents to rigorous analysis. But if it gives comfort to some poor befuddled fool to think Elvis is working in a Burger King, what harm is there?
And if some equally foolish choose to think humans are the sole crown and glory of creation - let them... just think of the shock they'll get when the Seti project makes irrefutable contact

I would rather belive there is life on mars than Elvis is alive, after all if he lives he should still be singing!
As for Aliens the truth is out there (somewhere).

Usually one or the other. Rarely together, and frequently the wrong kind.
I think I have a sewing kit...

Holidays
taliesin Posted May 8, 2001
Sometimes I think I'm already there. Other times I know I am.
It's the times in between that I don't understand.
What makes a holiday out of this world?
No matter where you go; there you are.

We are already in space! The entire world is in space...
Everytime you wake up, you are either going on a holiday or just returning from one!
