And that's why you can't be my grandfather, even if you did have childhood rheumatic fever ....'cause he's dead...

No.. but your last email message is...... and it's all Higgins' fault!
I think your new addy was roman-ish so I emailed to what I think it was as well as your other most recent one...
Anyway, if you don't get an email from me, and you do see this post, be so kind as to resend your last email

Taliesin, I have a big thing that weighs 'W', and five smaller things on top of it that weigh 'W/10', and five smaller things on top of each one of those that weigh 'W/100'. This continues for an infinite number of things and doesn't stop.
Do you think that 'W' would be equal to all of the smaller things put together? Or would there be a different ratio?

Sorry, meant to say that each of the smaller things weigh 'W/10' EACH. So as they're five of them, they weight '5W/10' which is 'W/2'. Same with 'W/100', there're five, so that's 'W/20'.

The of you thread looks like it's permanently gone! I never got around to saving it offline! How do we find it again? Where can we get it from? Why did it go? Where did it go?

The of you thread may co-exist in the same space/time continuum as the infinite W ratio thingy
I believe you can express the W problem as follows:
Where § = infinity
W * §/10 = W..
No, wait, that should be:
§[5(W/10)]=Wx...
No, that's not it! It should be:
{§[5(W/10)]} * {a symbol for infinite regression} = W(§)
Anyway, its a trick question -- infinity divided always equals infinity
Please don't .. I'll do an exhaustive search of my old conversations and try to find the of you thread..

Ah - it's okay, I've figured out the question. It's a limiting sum type thingy. Well, I knew that already, but I forgot to square the five.
Yesterday I searched through all your converstions until 2002 (I'm pretty sure I last posted in of you last year, but could be wrong) but didn't find it. However, it's entirely possible I missed it, or even that you unsubscribed.

unsubscribed
If so it was purely accidental!
.... Wait a minute.. you searched through *all* my conversations for 2003
There has to be a way of refining the search... in Google, for example, quotes force a "Phrase Search", which looks for an exact match. Hootoo needs something like this, or at least GREP

I gave up from using the search function, because I find it to be exceedingly dodgy. I searched conversation forums a bit, but I didn’t use the phrase “ of you”, as I wasn’t sure how the smiley would affect things. I used some other phrases. I used your <./>MP167550</.> page to look through your old conversations.

Would you agree with St. Benedict and say that "idleness is the enemy of the soul"?
I think that St. Benedict has a very good point. The only problem is that I like being idle!
Do you feel like becoming a Benedictine monk?

Benedictines make reasonably good brandy
I'm not sure what that says about St. Benedict's dictum. Maybe it was intended to motivate the other monks to increase production.
Perhap he really meant sloth, ( the noxious kind of laziness, not the cute animal! )
Idleness can be an ideal time for meditation, contemplation, and creativity...
I would not like to become any kind of monk. Among other things, I dislike their habits
