The wierdest thing just happened.
I was just reading about Frank Lloyd Wright and came across his foundation's website. I was just reading that it was founded by himself in Taliesin, AZ.
You see where I'm going with this, right...
Then I see a new conversation on h2g2 has popped up ("Ecologist receives death threats"). I click on it and see your name! Not 3 seconds after I read the same word. Freaked me right out it did.
You from there or something?

Never even visited.
I used the nickname when I joined hootoo, simply because I had been reading some Celtic mythology at the time and was in a whimsical mood. Also I have Welsh ancestry, the name means 'shining brow', and I possess what may charitably be referred to as a 'high forehead'
.. and for me whimsical is normal

Hi Taliesin. Your name drew me to your site, so I thought I'd say hi. It was my godfather's name (he was from Bangor (Gwynedd)), and I've always thought I'd name my first son Tal, although it's quite a load for a wean. Have you read any Taliesin?

Hi Valliere
I've actually considered changing my RL name to Taliesin
I have read some of the writings attributed to Taliesin, translated into English, as I am hopelessly mono-lingual, despite living in a bi-lingual land.
There's a bit of Welsh in my family -- my father's first name was Llewellyn, but I was stuck with staid British monikers

I know the feeling of hopelessly mono-lingual (although I'm not completely, Welsh never really came easy, but I should give it another try!) I tried non-translated Taliesin, but switched over very quickly. Interesting comment above - didn't know there was a Taliesin, AZ. Wonder if it has a link to ol' Cymru. Not too many Welsh in the US, particularly that area. I'll have to look it up.
Key: Complain about this post
