Taliesin, could I interest you in a fresh, steaming, hot petition?

[Hope you don't consider this to be unwanted spam, but it seemed like the best way to contact Zaphodistas directly. If you've already signed the Petition, please consider this a THANK YOU note.]
In a recent column in the h2g2 Post, Fragilis noted that the Petition for Greater Freedom had collected 76 signatures, and appeared to be slowing down. Where are the 180+ researchers who signed the original Zaphodista page?
If you felt compelled to sign that first rant in order to show BBC how you feel, please draw your attention to http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A544943 and consider signing this petition. It's toned down, it's serious, it bears a little more credibility because it was written and sorta "workshopped" by some non-Zaphodistas too (especially Lucinda/MyRedDice, the unwilling Thomas Jefferson of the Zaphodistas!). We even asked Peta for advice on how we might modify and finally present the petition, and she gave it!
Signing the Petition for Greater Freedom on h2g2 is the best way to show BBC how many people still oppose their extraordinary restrictions. This time, it's not about the Goo Berets or the Revolution. It's about the restrictions.
Thanks for your time,
Deidzoeb

Hi Subcom. Deidzoeb,
I'll copy the petition and send it via snail-mail presently. As I noted in my post to that page, I agree in principle, but I believe there are some technical problems to be overcome.
As well, I think a lot of people, myself included, are reluctant to post 'real' information about themselves on the Internet. I have no problem with telling people who I am, and where I live, in personal e-mail, it's just that posting such information permanently on the Web... well, you know..
I'll post again to let you know when I have sent the petition
Regards
Tal

Sounds great! Sending your signature on paper is just as good, and most people seem to think it's even better. Maybe the out-of-touch individuals who set down these BBC restrictions will find something more familiar about reading real paper copies of a petition, instead of the seeminly less substantial signatures on the website or via email.
There's a forum under the petition titled "Sign here if you sent the petition via snail-mail." That would be the best place to make note of it later, and will make it easier for people to see how many online signatures and paper signatures have been sent.
Thanks!
