Honor

Honor. In modern society honor is rare. Children do not respect, much less their parents. We live in a country (I'm from the US) where curruption runs ramoant. Honor is almost dead.
What is honor? Some may think of men fighting duels over trivial insults. That is not honor. Honor is being the better man. Not letting the little, trivial things get to you. Honor is doing those little, respectful, seemingly trivial things. (KEYWORD: SEEMINGLY) Like holding the door open for someone. Doing things, not to gain something, but because you can.
Honor is remembering, no matter how ridiculous someone is being, that they think they are in the right as much as you think you are in the right. If they fail to see your side, not take your side, mind you, but to see where you are coming from, you still need to open yourself to what they are thinking. Remember that there are at least two sides to every story. Usually more.
Honor isn't about avenging yourself when you are mocked. It's about moving on, about being the better man. Remember always, a person can not dishonor someone else. One can only dishonor oneself.

Love
Posted Jan 9, 2001
Love, terrible, terrible, thing. I realized the other day that I was in love. And this person that I am in love with, I also realized, is the only person for me. And she loves me. Isn't that beautiful. However, we were once together, and I ended it. And we got back together. And I just stopped calling. This happened five or six times. And some other things happend and I realized I am in love with her, and only her, forever. And she loves me still. But she is with someone else. But she doesn't see them lasting long. And I may have a chance still. But I am leaving for basic training (the army) in less than a month. I will be gone for 4 months. But I will be back because it is only the reserve. In 4 months. She says a lot can happen in 5 months. That is true. I could come home and she is married or having his baby. Or they can break up and she meets someone new. Or she can welcome me home with open arms.
I believe in certain rules of engagement when it comes to girls that I care for and boyfriends. If they have a boyfriend...I don't engage. Pretty simple...I think at least...But...I have little time...And I may have ruined my chances already...but I think I'm about to throw those rules out the window....and pursue...because I love her...and without her...I am nothing...
