Hiya Þing!
Thanks for dropping by to help with my diet.
Just wondering - you said that you'd been through Lake Safeways - are you from the Isle of Wight, then?
Or have you just visited there once or a lot?
I'd love to know - always on the lookout for more Islanders (both Caulkheads and Overners) but talking to Grockles is a nice change too.

Hi Bluebottle
I'm not from the Isle of Wight myself but I go there now and then as I have family there. So I'm a Grockle, really, but as I'm often there out of season I like to think I'm almost local.
Found a great pub on Saturday - the Blacksmith's Arms, west of Carisbrooke. Lots of German and table football at 20p a game. Rated highly by CAMRA.

That's close enough for me.
I stay pretty much in the Sandown area, myself, as I have no car etc. Although I also have family in Ryde.
Do you know Sandown well? Admittedly it's the touristy bit of the Island, but it's still a nice place to live.

I've been to Sandown a few times but I know Shanklin better.
I used to make a point of going to the Fisherman's Cottage, but I've gone off it a bit since they stopped having Juliette play there. Lately we've taken to going to the Village Inn - they have some good musical performers there, including Simon Ledger who is entertainment manager for Hollier's Hotel (which is next door and which owns the Village Inn, I think), and who plays a mean keyboard.
We do quite a bit of walking all over the island. I've been looking through the various articles about parts of the island - many of them yours wholly or in part - and there's some good stuff there.

Hi
Sorry, it's me again, you'll start to think I'm stalking you, but your nickname says the best way from Sandown to Ryde is the A3055, so I tried the A3055 (i.e. http://www.h2g2.com/a3055) and it doesn't exist. However, the list of articles H2G2 kindly offers instead is quite surreal, if you just look down the titles. Try it.

I just decided to have that on the end of my name as a joke - afterall, so many people have A12345 or something on the end of their names. But I'll definately take a look after I finish typing this.
I don't really go to Shanklin that much - I know it, and I know that Hollier's is the oldest hotel in Shanklin, but I tend not to go there that much, unless I am visiting friends who live there. I've always been more of a Sandown person.
Do you remember the pier in Shanklin, by the way?
