I think your reviews are fantastic, but I notice you're getting signposted towards The Post. Happily, I'm just getting involved with the regular feature on that esteemed organ, so might be able to help
Obviously there's people I'd have to ask about this (I'm new to the team) and there's no promises here, but if you fancy it there might be a possibility of you contributing on a regular basis. You could just contribute the odd article here and there, or you could have your own spot every issue to review whatever you see fit. Whatever you feel your time constraints are!
Your work would certainly fit in perfectly with what we're doing, and would get a much more positive readership in the Post where current affairs are more the norm. Let me know if you're interested and if you would be able to commit to something more regular for us. It would be great to have you as a columnist!

I think it's a great idea, after reading your House review, Sadi. You seem to enjoy writing, and I'm assuming the Post is always after keen writers. My husband used to write recipes for the Post some moons ago, and enjoyed it. I seem to recall writing something for it too.

I'd LOVE to write weekly for the post and i am honored and touched deeply (more than you know ) that you like my writing and reviews. HOw do i go about submitting to the Post though? i find this part confusing because once i write a piece, there is no dropdown menu for the post;
can you explain how it works; or, you can just pick the pieces you like and run them. i admit, it does feel a bit like spinning my wheels if it's not right for the EG, which i totally understand, but it would be great if it fit somewhere on here and i do mostly reviews so YES.
Let me know how this would work, how to submit, etc, and i'd be glad to. What about the Capote review... are you interested in that?
Let me know and be in touch; i've been out of touch for various reasons, but am glad i'm checking in...!
Thanks and be in touch when you can....
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 16, 2005
Oh, great, I'm so glad you like the idea!
The reason there isn't a drop-down menu for the Post is that submissions are dealt with by email, rather than by submitting to forums. If the article/entry already exists on hootoo, it's less likely to be considered for as people have probably already read it!
You can read the Post at <./>thepost</.>, predictably enough; there's a link to the Post Office for submission details too.
Sorry so brief; am away for the weekend any trying to get things finished up! Remind me early next week to give you more infor, glad you're interested!

Great Rich: i'll visit the link and send submissions via emial... it sounds good. i'm looking forward to work. I guess work that's already on here is a bit of a sticky wickett and not do-able, which is fine because i am a bit too prolific so will have other pieces for you. There is one on BBC collective but i don't think they mind if i give it to The Post. That's great though and i'm really glad. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. i took an absence from the site for a while just to clear my head and to take care of some other work (i'm working two essentially fulltime jobs - one in the day, one afterwork, so i'm taxed out, yet still miraculously find time to write.... nothing could ever change that.) IN any event, i expect it to slow down after the new year. Let me get to work on some things and we'll see what you think...
Meanwhile, i'll send Capote via email.
Have a great weekend. I'm back to my Russian translation job (quelle fun) but must be done....
durrr!
be well, and thanks again for the chance !

Hi Sadi,
Good to see you're back.
So, I see you've established a relationship with The Post- well done!
Hope you stay there for a length of time, not a lot of the writers survive for long, do they, Rich?
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 20, 2005
I don't know, I've only been doing it six weeks
We've got a good batch of new regulars that are extremely keen, submitting quality work and are very pleased with the magazine they've contributed to. I think we as a community need to encourage this more; it's not much to leave a short note at the bottom of an article to say one enjoyed it. Enthusiasm needs to be tapped into and encouraged, just as it does anywhere onsite.
Hi Sadi!
Yael Smith Posted Dec 23, 2005
Herrrmmmm..... enthusiasm may not be the strongest quality in most people these days, Rich. I would love to write for the Post, but have no time nor computer access at home. Plus I have a child to take care of, by myself, most of the time.
That's probably why I get upset when I submit an article to PR and get nada in reply, or worse- some very harsh criticism on my values and beliefs....
But that's for another thread.
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 23, 2005
Yes, that's a very good point. I'm subscribed to PR but don't comment on every single entry that comes in, although I do my best to - again, time pressures mean I sometimes have to pick which ones to comment on. Reading that sentence reinforces my belief that I should really be reading and commenting on every single one, and I promise that personally I will redouble my efforts to do so.
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 23, 2005
Why not?
It's good to be reminded, once in a while, that I might not be doing my job as well as I could be. I know that wasn't directed at me personally, but to comment on every entry would ensure there was at least one responsible Scout's presence hanging over every thread.
So yes, I resolve that next year I will comment on every entry in Peer Review, though you'll have to excuse me slipping when I have my week off in January
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 24, 2005
Oh, I have no idea as yet. The hotel is closing for a fortnight as it's pretty quiet and there's loads of maintenance to be done. Normally it's a £99 or so break to Mallorca or Cyprus, just to get away - I'll just head off down town on Jan 2nd and see what's available. Though it's only a fortnight away, there's so much work in between it feels like a lifetime away...
Hi Sadi!
Yael Smith Posted Dec 28, 2005
Wish I could go away for a fortnight. Just pack hubby up and disappear to some tropical destination. Next time I'll be off work it would be to have my baby and Maternity Leave, which will probably leave me totally exhausted...
Ah, well, not all is doom and gloom. Hope you enjoy your time away, where ever you go.
Hi Sadi!
Yael Smith Posted Dec 30, 2005
How wet is it where you are?
The rain is melting last night's snow here, and it's awfully windy too.
The best time to run away from the UK, I'll say.
Hi Sadi!
Skankyrich [?] Posted Dec 30, 2005
It's not raining - of course, I do live in Devon so we don't expect it to
It's only four days until I can leg it now...
