I've created an entry on the origins. I've left the address over on the project page in a discussion thread. Otherwise you can find it at my space. Hope it helps.

How's the project going? Do you need any more help? Cruyff article finished - need any more on players in earlier competitions?
Hope the Ukraine wasn't too awful (fellow Gooners who went for our hopeless showing against Dynamo Kiev seemed to have had a reasonable time despite the weather).

Hi Nitpicker!
Ukraine was marvellous, but the rain was awful!!!!!!
Thanks for the offer, if you fancy doing a piece on Puskas I'd be grateful (or any other player ou can think of who merits an entry!)

The Nitpicker Posted Jun 12, 2001
Is there a definitive list of the players being covered anywhere? I thought maybe Juste Fontaine? Will try to get that together and, if I've got the time I'll have a go at Puskas for you. Is the Cruyff piece OK or do you want anything else covered?
At least it wasn't snowing in the Ukraine at this time of the year - we felt very hard done by having to play our match in the weather conditions we faced - the only time I've seen worse in modern times was that Chelsea match when they had to keep sweeping the snow off the lines and Ruud was doing his pieces!

Got all my info on Puskas together - just need to actually collate it and write the piece now. Will then try to get something about Fontaine done OK?
Am enjoying finding out stuff about footballers who played when I was totally unaware of the existence of football!

I'm a bit new to the Guide, but wouldn't mind adding a contribution...70's and 80's are probably more my forte, but I'm up for any suggestions....Pele, Platini, Zidane, Moore, Beckenbauer...let me know...

Hi RedPat ... everyone's welcome here at the footy side of the guide
Bobby Moore is already under construction by one of the other researchers, but you are more than welcome to choose anybody else.
Just let us know who you choose
BTW ... who's your team?

RedPat Posted Jun 21, 2001
Cheers...didn't see Pele on the construction, and I think would be a crime not to have him included , so I'll have a go at him and give you a draft in a few days...
my team, as it were, and it's a very long time since I've seen them, is Crystal Palace....20 years ago it would have seemed very foolish to support my old fella's team Charlton, especially when the Eagles where going to be the team of the Eighties...I think they still are!!!....tables are turned...Palace are a lesson on how not to run a club...I mean we thought that we couldn't get any worse than Noades...WRONG!!!
Living in Amsterdam for the last few years means that I can't be described as long-suffering...
but as I said elsewhere...I am the Tony Cascarino of Irish Fans....born in London of Irish parentage...and a supporter of Ireland since David O'Leary's international debut...so I did get to see the opening game of the World Cup campaign in the Amsterdam Arena in September...anyway enough already...have to go back to work...and then get some stuff for the Pele piece...

Dear Mickey
Sorry to let you down but I'm out of here due to SEVERE unhappiness at the treatment of LeKZ. Ormy knows where to find me if you want to get in touch. Sad not to be up for the 'anorak' any longer but ....

I'm sorry, to see you go ... I respect the fact that you feel strongly enough to leave but still find it terribly sad that you don't want to hang around h2g2 anymore ... especially on the footy stuff!
Keep in touch (by lurking!!! ... I won't tell anyone!!)

Mickey - this is definitely my last posting.
I was a bit worried about you and yours (so much so that I emailed Ormy yesterday to see if he knew whether you are OK) - hope everything is good with you and that the new Wrexham supporter arrives safely! Will miss you and a few of the others here but enough is enough! Would like to keep in touch but don't want to leave my email here so, if you feel the same, just contact me via Ormy - my permission to him is here for all to see.
Love

I've now delivered my piece on Dino Zoff - you can find it on http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A601769 . If there's anything more you'd like me to do, please let me know. I could take over some of the Entries on individual World Cups, if you don't have the time right now!

That's great news, MTRF - I was wondering just the other day whether the project would ever be revived. I'd better update my Dino Zoff piece!
World Cup project
Ormondroyd Posted Mar 25, 2002
...And then it all went quiet for three months!
Are you there, MTRF? I would like the piece I wrote on Dino Zoff to see the light of day. If the World Cup project isn't going to be revived, I'd like to submit my Entry to Peer Review as an individual Entry in time for the World Cup. If you drop by, could you let me know whether there's any chance of more activity on the project?

The Nitpicker Posted Mar 25, 2002
I second that sentiment - where are we with the project? Can we do anything to help get it up and running in time for the beginning of Japan/Korea 2002?
Hope you are OK MTRF
