Hi
Tigger Posted Nov 28, 2000
Sorry about logging off on you. I am still trying to figure this all out, it seems to be a reaaly cool site so far. What part of Norway are you from? Part of my family is originally from Stavanger, although that is about two generations ago! "See" you soon!
Hi
JAR (happy to be back, but where's Ping?) Posted Nov 28, 2000
I'm from the south-eastern parts of Norway. About twelve hour of train from Stavanger. Where is it you're from?
(And don't worry about it, we're all pretty nice around here. )

I'm from Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Which is physically and climatically about as far from any part of Norway you can get. Its a pretty friendly place too! Are you a student someplace?

Student? No, not yet... I'm hoping to go to New Zealand over New Years, to study Computer Science, but right now, I'm working at the local college...
Well, with the present climatic changes, mybe Phoenix and Norway can get closer? At least things are getting hotter over here... Not as arid, though...
College?!
Tigger Posted Nov 28, 2000
What do you do at the college? I teach and tutor the basic use of many software programs, it is pretty repetitive, but at least I am teaching! Everybody at my 'real job' thinks I am a computer whiz, but the truth of the matter is I have no clue how the things work, but I can't seem to convince anybody of that. What does one do with a degree in Computer Science? I really have no clue, most of the computer classes that I have to take to get my Web Developer certificate baffle me completely and everybody else seems to get it!
College?!
JAR (happy to be back, but where's Ping?) Posted Nov 28, 2000
It's not really very interesting... I'm a financial secretaty (or something along those lines). I have no real qualifications that way, though... Just working on good faith and a knack for figuring out systems...
I have no real clue what one does with a degree in computer Science, but I'm somewhat proficient with the cursed machines, so I guess an education that way is the way to go. (Maybe I can work with neural networking! )
Being a teacher at higher levels really seems like a rewarding thing.. My father does that, and he seems pretty content.. Real job? Teaching is not your real job?
College?!
Tigger Posted Nov 28, 2000
Actually, teaching is my gift. It is also what I love to do. I rent cars to make a living, currently. It pays better than teaching here and allows me to have a more flexible schedule. I can't teach in public schools or private schools for that matter. There is zero respect for teachers here. I am hoping to get a Masters degree in 'Learning and Technology' as soon as I can get my nerve up to fill out the papers for grad school.
Hey, who needs qualifications! It is so much more fun to do something you don't know and wing it! Usually you end up with better ideas about whtever it is because youur mind isn't set into the intellectual 'box' that people who have studied the subject have their minds in. I have faked it many times, people who know you are the ones that matter anyway!
I've got to get to bed I have class in 6 hours and need to get some rest. I'll be back around this same time probably Thursday or Friday, I have no clue what day it is in Norway (it is just barely Tuesday here) that whole date line thing confuses me.
Good Night (teach me how to put the smiley faces on, please)
College?!
JAR (happy to be back, but where's Ping?) Posted Nov 28, 2000
Good night then!
The smilies are easy:
: + ) =
; + - + ) =
8 + - + ) =
: + - + P =
: + ( =
There are lots more if you check out http://www.h2g2.com/Smiley
..and the date line is probably invented by evil people to drive us small people insane...
More Smileys

Or you can have cooler smileys
< devil > (without spaces) =
< angel > (without spaces) =
< ale > (without spaces) =
< hangover > (without spaces> =
and so on, there are loads of smileys to choose from if you click on a smiley it will take you to a page full of them so you can see whats available and how to do them
Good Luck
