Out to Lunch
Posted May 2, 1999
That is, the editors are. Seems like a long lunch break, but then again, this is an Editorial Lunch Break. Even Lig Lury Jr. himself would admit that this sort fo break can extend indefinately. Indeed, his certainly did and has. I wonder about the editor system of submitting entries for 'refusal': how do they get through all those entries? They must be still wading through the hundreds that have been submitted in the short opening time last week. I should think that reveiwing every article would be quite a full-time job (or is that a fool-time job?), not to mention all the work that TDV had already put into this site; even now still working on it.

As the light fades, so does the persistant digital wind. The silicon sails drop limply as the small raft bumbs up against the shore of this island. At least, it seems like an island, but could prove to be an entire continent.
A figure steps off the raft, somewhat travel-weary but nonetheless his usual self, whatever that may mean. He has survived the short trip across the seething digital sea, weathered mighty information waves, and answered the call that has echoed across the gulf from this newly formed yet ancient planned land. Seagulls dip and wheel improbably above, and the same sort of virtual trees stand nearly lifelike in this place. Yet it is different. Hundreds of clearings, with hundreds more threads atop each. This area is much bigger than the one that the figure came over from. Yet the same stamp of identity is seen in everything here: Bob has blessed this place, down to its very DNA.
The figure pauses in memory of what has happened today. He will not abandon the other land, but will rest here a while before returning.
