Hi!
I'm back online after a long absence and trying to catch up with some old friends. How's things?
Inky
Hi!

Good thanks! And yourself? I seem only to be online periodically now, which is something I must amend immediately! Nice to "see" you
Hi!
Inkwash Posted Apr 15, 2004
No worries my appearances here are anything but regular these days
Things are getting interesting over here- I just got my name in print!
Hi!
Inkwash Posted Apr 22, 2004
me? illegal?
No, I translated a text and got it published in a journal with a very narrow readership. But it still felt good and there was pay involved!

D'you know the Moomins?
The author also did short stories (as well as paintings and stuff). I translated one of the stories.
Hi!
Inkwash Posted May 3, 2004
Into English from Swedish.
But it wasn't the Moomins it was just the same author. Someone beat me to the post with the moomins about fourty/fifty years ago, so I have to go hunting around for my own star to translate.
Hi!

Oh my gosh! Haven't been around for ages! How is all the translating going? btw I don't think it's cos I do it all the time from *cough* Latin & Greek
Hi!
Inkwash Posted Aug 18, 2004
You do!?
I don't know a word of Latin or Greek (I guess you mean classical Greek? I know one word of modern Greek but moderation rules forbid me from repeating it) but the fact that you translate them makes you some kind of guru as far as I'm concerned.
Hi!
Researcher 159112 Posted Aug 22, 2004
cool!
I do mean classical Greek - and I've just done A level in my GAP year (yeah, I know, madness...)
Hi!
Inkwash Posted Aug 24, 2004
Ah, the whole system has changed since I was there, and in so short a time too.
What's the GAP thing then? (I've been out the country! )
Hi!

I've been working at a Junior school, which had a pre-prep department, so I've been looking after lots of children between 4 and 11, and some choristers who go up to 13. It has been *such* fun, and I put away some useful funds too! I've basically been listening to 7 year olds read, photocopying, office work, playground duty, games lessons, and supervising choristers' tea + lunch on sunday
Hi!
Inkwash Posted Aug 27, 2004
Great stuff!
I'm not sure I would have enjoyed being around all those kids, probably because I'm used to teaching much older people.
But I know a lot of people find it very rewarding.
Hi!
Researcher 159112 Posted Sep 6, 2004
It was brilliant! But the very little children got a *bit* wearing sometimes
Hi!

Absolutely Sod All.
Well, that's technically a lie. I'm doing a play (Euripides' Hippolytus) with a load of people I was at school with. It's excellent fun
Apart from that, Nothing.
