About Me
Taffbanjo Started conversation May 28, 2006
I am a brand new member so I hope this is going into my Personal Space bit.
I spent a longish time in the (British) Army when I was younger and have been a Civil Servant ever since - far longer than I care to remember.
I've got stacks of interests; I'm really too busy to be still working for a living but since I've got into the habit of eating regularly, it seems I am stuck with it. Things that particularly interest me:
1. Bluegrass music - I've heard all of the of the first and second generation players and met a few of them; I've managed to get to Nashville twice since 1999. My favourite bands are Alison Krauss & Union Station and the Del McCoury Band. (And no, Nickel Creek do not play bluegrass. They are great musicians but need a rolling banjo).
2.Barbershop Choruses (there is no end to my jet-setting sophistication).
3. Mozart (that's better).
3. Reading - Anything from cosmology to the labels on sauce bottles. Favourite fiction writer is Terry Pratchett (bang goes my street cred) and for non-fiction, Bill Bryson.
I've also practised Chinese Boxing for a lot of years, particular the Internal Arts T'ai Chi, Hsing I and my favourite, Pa Kua (or Ba Gua, as they write nowadays). Incidentally, I've seen your threads on Pa Kua. It has been developing quite a following of late but there are still very few people in the West who know much about it and even fewer who are qualified to teach it.
That is quite enough about me, I think - greetings to you all.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
