Thanks for your friendly (I think) note of welcome (so it seems). Seriously, I don't doubt the meaning of your message and it was most appreciated.

I seem to have a few things in common with you but probably pre-date you just a touch. I am a burned out computer programmer of a pre-Java vintage. I spend an inordinate amount of time doing nothing - so I'll check the relevant links you gave me. I lived in Vancouver for several years and the USA after that but have returned to Sydney, Australia in the midst of attempting a career change to psychotherapist of all things. Here in good old Sydney I finally crashed and burned, the best place in the world to do it, and ended up pensioned off as disabled by reason of being clinically depressed! Sounds perfect I know but I do suffer from isolation. Don't worry, I haven't gone mad - I think I am slowly going sane, actually.

You would believe how long it took me to find the "Reply" button.

It's probably a bit early for questions. I should explore first. I' m always open for a chat but am not a daily visitor to the Internet.

Thanks again!

Inordinate amount of time doing nothing? That sounds like me. Despite the fact that I had stuff to do, I just wasted a whole lot of time on a really silly Internet game. smiley - smiley

Slowly going sane? Not totally, I hope. I think everyone could benefit from a small bit of insanity.

My definition of sanity, if I had one would include what your referring to as "a samll bit of insanity".

When I say doing nothing, I guess I mean nothing momentous - i.e. watching TV (I've got the News Hour with Jim Lehrer on now), playing Free Cell on my computer, shopping, eating, looking at dirty dishes, sleeping. I have spent a lot of time trying to come up with a system of winning on the horse races - a bit of applied fuzzy logic. It's very difficult so I keep procrastinating.

How do you spend your time? (truly)
