Green Fields and Screens of Blue...

There was a time when h2g2 was a . com and not a .co.uk. I was here then, reading mostly. Unfortunately, I cannot access that earliest account. This account dates back to 2000, just a couple of months before the BBC took over the site and promptly locked everyone out.

I first found h2g2.com while doing a search for information about Douglas Adams. The HHGTTG books and I go way back to 1983. I was amazed that it had come to pass that the idea of a living breathing guide to life, the universe and everything was now a reality. The vastness of h2g2 did not frighten me. Instead, I was awestruck by the capability that what was intended as a silly idea had to bring people together from everywhere around the world.

I have read a lot of things on this site. Most of it was worth reading. There is something for almost everyone: Serious threads about weighty matters, silly threads to pass the time of day or night and almost everything in between.

What I cannot and will not abide is the abuse of h2g2. This is not the place for A/S/L. Nor is this the place for petty bickering and small minded vendettas.

I'm just going to hide under my desk...

In half an hour: A spare tire fell off the truck in the lane across from me on my way to work. My store keys went missing. The deliveries were early.

Apparently, the bolts holding the tire broke. Thankfully, the tire bounced out of the way of all the other cars in the three lanes involved. I thoroughly expected my windshield to shatter from the bits of metal that sprayed over my car, it didn't. Have I mentioned, I love my car? smiley - biggrin

The keys were hiding in my backpack. Can't blame them... I didn't want to go to work either.

The deliveries are never early.

I have done my order for the morning.

So, I will be under this nice big desk doing some paperwork and paying bills.

That sums it up quite nicely...

While attempting to reload my page to check the conversations, I got this error message from the Hootoo server and not my browser:

We Apologise for the Inconvenience

The following error occurred: An unknown error has occurred

Weather

It rained yesterday, last night, and early this morning. We are still very far behind our usual rain fall and missing the regular storms that we are so used to. For our state to be discussing drought conditions is unusual. Lately we have been caught up in the Presidential election. Is it Gore? or Is it Bush? We won't know until tomorrow for sure. Florida is recounting and other states are beginning to doubt themselves. I have not caught the up to the minute reports having been at work all day. The 10:00 news will update. Thanksgiving is getting closer as I type. It doesn't feel like Fall. We are still using the air conditioners.
