Chris M Posted Jan 17, 2002
thank you! I was out to make people but I'm more than happy it had a positive effect on someone! It's just my way of expressing something I can't find in words; and usually intended to take the p***, but I'm glad you liked it!
I've just read what you said about LeKZ too. I've become friends with them and I care about them very much, so thank you for saying what you did. I hope we can be friends too.
Chris
I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's mate...
i love it!

All you need to get the hang of a researcher's userspace is to replace the "U" as in "U157153" on their URL with "testuserpage" as in
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/testuserpage157153
There you'll find the code to make it up. You can find more in the GuideML Clinic, at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML
If you've got any queries I'll see if I can help, but they'll be better at it. My one tip though is to mess around with the hexadecimal settings for colors, a la "#000000" (white) and "#ffffff" (black) and see what grim hues you can come up with. Any six figure combination of 0-9, or a-f (10-16), such as "#0cdb24"
(a very nasty lime green)
I'm still around, can't leave it alone but I'm not talking much for a while. I'll get that email to you soon though.
Cheers - have fun!
Chris

hi chris,
the testpage thing helped me a lot. i designed two entries, this one:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A679935?skin=alabaster the gateway to the garden, and you click the green dragon to get to the actual memorial garden for lost children (which is really for anyone who wants to be there), not just people who've lost children, but that's where i got the idea.
but i had a bit of a problem with the military sort of way the fairies and butterflies flew around. they looked, well, starched and formal, and totally unlike butterflies and fairies. but i nicked your code, and used it, and now while they are going a bit faster than is strictly /ideal/, you can tell me what to change, and i can fix it.
both pages are so very much better in alabaster that i can't even look at them in goo, and i use the goo, because the colors involved in alabaster remind me of my orthodontist's office, when those colors were groovy. now i've just got to get rid of the silly blue goo title bars that mess up the page, for goo-bigots, who would rather see fairies in goo (they're yellow) than in alabaster (they're cute. did you know that yellow and cute were opposites? neither did i until right now.)
i didn't talk about lekz, because i don't know her "them"?? but i did stick up for quincy and satyagraha, and since she's really the one being accused... well, her too i guess.
talk to you later,
wfg
i love it!

A very beautiful thing, wfg! I'll make a dedication after this posting.
The speeding butterflies can be chilled out if you type
instead of
, the figure basically represents the pace of the scrolling characters, 1 being nice and slow. There's a way to make them bob up and down aswell, I'll get back to you on that
As I said, very beautiful. Thank you for being so open-hearted.
Chris

Chris M Posted Jan 18, 2002
Can I get an email from you, wfg? I'd like to talk to you offsite, if that's ok my address is
[email protected]

Thanks hon! I'll give it a shot and see what I come up with.
I am going to send you a piece of my artwork. I asked JEllen to, but she couldn't open it correctly, so I'm afraid that it may corrupt the forwarded mail. So I'll send it directly to you.
I understand about not saying much right now. But take care and I look forward to getting that email soon.

And WFG... the garden is beautiful!
I was a nurse for about 4 years. It was hardest to see a small one pass on. This is a beautiful memorial.

hi chris!
my email's on my page but it's [email protected]. alls i ever get there is porno spam, so that would be really great. i'm going to try using the up and down code on a few of the fairies and butterflies, too. if you put more than one in a row they bob up and down in sync, which looks even sillier.
your dedication is very beautiful. you know what i'd like is if you'd make that up into an entry, on a table or with graphics or something, and then i'll put a link to it in the garden. you think you'd like to do that?
of course, it's sad, too. but that's why i started it all in the first place. poor christopher he didn't deserve any of that. this way it can be a real memorial.
hey did you ever read "a heartbreaking work of staggering genius"? it made me think of that, a little. i'm a little (or maybe a lot) older than you, but i could still really appreciate the book. you'd like it a lot i think.
i'm going to go play with butterflies. we need a and a which could be a really badly, i think.
here, have a... what did they call it? "a blue loo brush"
wfg
i love it!
Chris M Posted Jan 18, 2002
Wow wfg, you've done a great job with the garden !
I'm really sorry, but I've decided to say goodbye to hootoo too. I've shared more of myself here than has proved comfortable, and I still feel hurt by some of the attitudes around here. If you hang around the right circles though, you could get to know some very kind people, especially my friend Willem, at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U168712
and Ellen, at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U185685
both of whom are absolute s I promise you.
Definitely check out the Willem Love Collective (dedicated to he)
at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U185434
And I'll email you soon.
Take care
Chris
P.S. Thanks for the blue loo brush... for you!
Whatever you do, have fun on h2g2, and don't ever take *anyone* too seriously, least of all me...
i love it!
Chris M Posted Jan 18, 2002
P.P.S. Thank you Wink, for that lovely description of me on your space! I'll look forward to chatting with you by email too. I saw your artwork, and all's I can say is wonderful. I think wfg would definitely like to see that!
*whisper fades into silence...*

oh no. it always happens. it never fails. i meet a nice, caring, sensitive sort of guy and if he's not gay, or way too young, or way too old, he's on his way out the door.
i know it's not my looks or my breath online. it's just my darn miserably stupid luck.
phooey. why even try?
never mind. why i even got online instead of writing my stupid paper was because i checked who's online for chris. but no.
this is your life wendy. <-- the stupidest name for the loneliest girl
forget it.
forget me.
they all did.
it was better that way.
what'm i supposed to do with all these blue loo brushes i brought you?
guess i'll give them to passing strangers on my way to flushing myself.
wall. check, another brick.
flower. confirmed dead.
girl. we think so, but it's a sorry specimen.
goodbye, hello...

So this is where you hang out, eh?
Looks... like... fun...
There's lots of dodgy people on the 'net, I'd be careful if I were you.
See ya around, no doubt.
