Hi Cloud Malone, and welcome to H2G2.
One of our volunteer ACEs will be along in a minute to give you a proper welcome, with useful links and all. But if you can step into a conversation as deftly as you did with the Michael Jackson one, you'll fit right in.
As I said, welcome!
Ben

Hi
Cloud - Altocumulus on Thursdays Posted Jun 13, 2005
Thank you Ben - I was looking for a Welcome thread but couldn't find one, so I just landed in the middle. I'm still feeling my way around and absorbing by way of osmosis. I shall follow your cue.
Onward and upward.
Incidentally, for being so pleasant, you may call me Cloudy.
Hi
Mrs Zen Posted Jun 13, 2005
Well, every one has a silver lining Cloudy! And thank you for that.
Hootoo is *huge* and there really isn't a welcome thread. Just landing into Ask is about as good as it gets really. The site is about 5 years old, so there are a LOT of in-jokes, a lot of shorthand and jargon, and a lot of established friendships and enmities. Oh, and it is incestuous as hell - you would not *believe* the number of relationships formed here.
But you'll fit right in. Anyone who can drop a comment about cheesegraters into a conversation about Michael Jackson in his second or third post is a shoe-in.
Er....
.... are you *sure* you haven't been here before?
On second thoughts - don't answer that. It is one of those questions like 'do you still love me' and 'does my bum look big in this' which I am never ever sure if I am getting an honest answer to. (Um - I'm a gal by the way - the name is an oddity of internet history).
So... enjoy....
Btw, is the cheesegrater what is called a 'collectable' - ie the sort that when you see them in junk shops or art museums you think 'but my gran had one of those'? Or is it something nifty from Ikea?
Ben
Hi

Absolutely certain, Ben, yes. And no, you bum does not look big in that.
The cheesegrater has been the topic of many a conversation and deserved a thorough airing on here. even if it was my 'virgin flag'. No I've not been here before but, I have been checking the Guide entries for a while. I'm rather fond of the section on goats. Someone said 'goats are insane' which kind of sums it all up, really, I thought.
Still cant find my way around but I'm working on it.
Oh and the grater in question is not so much an implement as a statement of modern art-in-domesticity.
I'm glad I came now.
Hi

No... goats aren't insane. They are very very very sane!
Mind you, their eyes are worrying. Like the other domesticated animal with slitty pupils they have a 'f**k you' attitude. Goats are just herbivorous cats.
I like both species!

*waves to Alex*
A blue cheese-grater, or a grater of blue-cheese? Interested people are longing to know....
Oh, and there is a whole world of people here obsessed with Thursdays. You'll fit *right* in...
