I've been looking around a bit more since I posted - this site is amazing. I can't believe it's been up and running a year and I haven't found it until now. Beautiful concept, and absolutely gorgeous java/cgi. Wish I could do that ...
Is there any sort of email or messanger facility on h2g2, or do we just sort of post to each others' homepages to communicate? I mean, obviously you can tell when things have been replied to, but doesn't it get a bit cluttered after a while? Plus the fact that any Tom, Dick or Harry can read this (not that it matters in this instance, but it might eventually).

At the moment it is all bullitin-board style, so everyone can read it. There have been a few calls for a messaging system, I do not see the point myself, if you want a private conversation with a gadgee you can give them an email address, or quite a few use IRC, or whatever the equivelent is. Communication is not too hard, once you get used to it. A quick look at the previous posts, to orientate yourself, and away your go. You quickly get used to the pace of different conversations, and at most I have only 10-15 going at once, but some post only once a month, others a couple of times a day etc. Hope this helps If there is anything else I can help with, just yell Until later....
