How do you feel about your ex- remarrying?

Relieved, I suppose. That takes her one more step out of my life. There are no children, so I have no reason to keep in touch with her. My mother is very fond of her and has always hoped we would remarry. We both knew that would never happen.

There were three children in my first marriage. It makes all the difference I suppose. We split 20 years ago this year and I've still never gotten over the fact that it took him two weeks to meet his next wife. They married, had a child, then he stopped seeing ours.
They're still together, I've spent most of the time alone, bringing up the kids.
The only time we were together in the same room with our grandson was: on our daughter's wedding day, at grandson's christening and our son's 21st last year.
His wife claims our grandson as "hers" and that stings.

I guess you got off lightly.

I have great admiration for single parents. That's the toughest job in the world.

You said 'first marriage'. Are you married now?

My ex and I were both at loose ends when we married. We were in lust, not in love. We just weren't compatible. Our interests are different, as are our philosophies of life. We quickly became bored with each other. Then resentful. And wound up actually disliking each other. It got nasty, I'm afraid.

I don't understand these civilized divorces where the ex-spouses remain best friends. Fortunately we had no children so have no reason to stay in contact. I am disturbed that she remains in contact with my mother. I question her motives, but then I have come to question everything about her.

I wish I had more time to spend here. It seems like a good community. I'll try to get online at least for a few minutes every day.
