Well, about how you decided to handle the situation in question - quite the opposite of how I would have handled it...

...and I figured it's about background/experience - I've spent far too many years (*counts on fingers* 18 years to be exact) being servile and service-minded to people who abused me verbally and never ever bothered to return and apologize...

...which means that today, I'm a person who will not be tread upon easily!

Luckily enough, I'm mostly surrounded by colleagues who respect me - but there are two women (one on my department, and one in a connected department) who are complete bitches!

And what I resent most is that they are being quite bitchy to most people, but not to the people they want something from... and so far, I've been one of those people...

Arrrgghhh!! One of these days, if I overhere one more verbal abuse from either of those two persons, I swear I'll morph into Kristina!

Uh-oh!

I spoke very nicely to the person in question and let her know her response bothered me. She immediately apologized. I felt better. End of story.

I think my approach is the best for my wellbeing and personality. I need to get stuff off my chest right away, otherwise I stew and I fret and I get agitated and cannot sleep at night. I need to let things go by letting others know when they've crossed a line with me. Of course, I can't use this approach with clients at work because the customer is always right...but I can stick up for myself in my private life.
