Yeah, Cerberus is wilfully complicated - but I'm not sure I'd go as far as Joycean. I've slightly gone off it because I've realised that it *is* impossible to make sense of the plot - it's not just me. Plus Dave Sims has started to write neo-fascist editorials.
L&R...Nothing wrong with soap opera. Coronation Street's a soap opera and remains the most consistently brilliant thing on TV.
To tell the truth I don't read that many Graphic Novels - they're too expensive. I tried Sandman recently but couldn't see what the fuss was about.
Any hot tips?

Well, I would have said Sandman. The difficulty with that is that you have to get past the first two which are essentially setting up the story arc.
Definitely Hellboy. Mike Mignola is consistently doing things that nobody else would dare to. Though you do have to have a tolerance for mad Nazi scientists and talking gorilla's.
Daredevil has been consistently brilliant for the last five years, which i managed no to notice until Bendis was about to leave the book. But that's life.
For something a little different try Hiroaki Samura's 'Blade of the Immortal', set in fuedal Japan. Some of the best graphics you'll ever see, and the plot is getting close to genius level.
Walking Dead is probably the best ongoing monthly series atm, and the graphics are good bite sized chunks of a zombie story that manages to be both scary and thought provoking.
In case you hadn't noticed, I don't do 'high concept' graphics. I hear good things about Joe Saccho and Art Spiegleman, but Will Eisner's 'Heart of the Storm' is a better and more moving account of the Jewish story of WWII for any number of reasons.

Yeah...they have to come *from* the comic book world, not use it (if that makes any sense). But at least with L&R they started with the concept of a girlie Rocket Mechanic...plus the divergence into wrestling draws on Mexican wrestling comics.
Having said that...I rather liked Ghost World. The film's fairly faithful, too.
I also have small collection of Greek porno comics...

Oh, forgot to mention Gary Spencer Millidges' 'Strangehaven', his bizarre cross between The Twilight Zone, The Archers and The Avengers, with increasing amounts of Dixon of Dock Green thrown in. All sounds like it shouldn't work, but it does - magnificently.
Gary's a local boy, and I know he'd appreciate the sales!
