After extensive research, I have a solution to the problem of flatmates. On two occassions in the last two years, I have moved in with total strangers. Both flats were harmonious, pleasant places to stay - not something that can be said for every flat I've lived in.
The reason? Here it is:
Tea.
The flat that drinks tea together, gets on well together. If the teapot is the social centre of your flat, as it is in mine, then harmony is assured.
Oh, and 'The Best Democracy Money Can Buy' is ace - thanks for the tip.

Frankly, we have gone through the drinking tea together thing, mostly because the g/f doesn't offer me one when she is making him one.
I appreciate the thought though, I really do. I don't mean to make him saound so bad - we have known each other since school, and twenty odd years later we are just at very different points in our life.
He has a son, and a stable, steady relationship. I have neither of those. It's time for us to go our seoperate ways, is all.
Glad you are enjoying the Palast.<ok.

Hmm, I sort-of know what you mean. When I first moved to Edinburgh, I shared a flat with an old school friend. And it didn't work at all, with the result that we are no longer friends. Ah well.

Which is excatly why I want to get out now before it all becoes some huge festering boil that neither of us can do anything about.
He may not be the firt person I'd choose to socialise with anymore, but I'd like to maintain some sort of friendly relations the guy.
Key: Complain about this post
