Dream
Posted Jun 29, 2001
I just had one of my very realistic (in terms of attention-to-detail) dreams last night, so I'm writing what I remember here as clearly as I can.
The first bit I remember is being in a really nice bus, and there being a small vase of petunias in the middle of the road. Viggy mentioned that he was glad he wasn't a petunia. Traffic was so bad that we couldn't avoid it, and there was a small thump as it got driven over by the bus. I found a weird long spring-thing with a handle with a button on it, clipped to the side of the bus next to the window. When I pushed the button, a panel on the side of it said OPEN, and the spring twisted one way. I let go of the button, and it went blank. I pushed it again, and it said CLOSED, and twisted the other way. Let go of the button, it went blank gray again. this patteren repeated for a while, as I kept trying to figure out what it was for. Then I got bored and looked out the window, and saw some really nice scenery and cool-looking giant birds. I wondered about whether it would be possible to tame one. Then, Will and Travis were discussing something about the D&D Player's Handbook. The bus stopped, and I grabbed my lunch from under the seat. We all got out and had to walk about half of a mile to the national park becauswe there was no road. we walked past some of the giant birds, only they turned out to be griffins. I asked Will and Travis about whether a particular spell would allow me to tame one, and there followed a lengthy discussion about whether the rulebook meant that you could tame one creature or one type of creature, and whether you could have one per area, and they followed you around even out of that area, or if they stayed in that area and if they did whether or not the spell ended when you left it. Then Travis mentioned that the minotaurs reacted very badly when he tried to cast it on all of them at once, and attacked him. Will said that they probably would have attacked him anyway. We got there, and Ben was appointed leader of the class and got to wear a brightly colored, mostly dark-bluish-green with black flowers on it but splotches of other colors, silk cloak. Then the people without lunches picked up some premade ones, while the others just went outside. Mrs. Gellert handed people some bottled water on their way out the door. Then we all sat around in a circle. Everyone seemed to be eating their lunch, so I looked at mine. It was in a large, clear plastic bag. In it were four tomatoes, some mixed vegetables prepackaged in what looked like an applesauce container, a Ziploc bag of eight Ritz crackers, and a turkey and cheddar Lunchables with oreo cookies for dessert. I looked around the circle again, to verify that everyone was indeed eating lunch, because I had no idea of the time of day, and I didn't really want to ask "are we eating lunch?". Hayley, who was eating one of those fancy candy-painting things and currently had a blue tounge, looked up and made a beautifully poetic comment about the overcast sky. several people, including me, commented that she should write it down. I asked if anyone would trade me something slightly more appetizing for my tomatoes or vegetables, and not getting a response and joked that if nobody wanted my tomatoes I'd throw them at people. Then I woke up and the clock said 11:28 AM.
I've been sleeping too long lately.
